BYS Glitter Dust for nails

✎ Wednesday, 20 March 2013

So if you read my last review here  you would know I was sent a few things from the website FashionAddict for review. One of the other items I was sent was this BYS Glitter Dust for nails. This is a new release on the market so I was excited to give it ago. I've always heard really great things about BYS nails polishes!

Sorry about the reflection! This is what the kit looks like.

What's included is your polish, glitter pot and a brush.

The steps they've written on the pack is:
Step 1- Paint
Paint your nails with BYS nail enamel
Step 2 - Dip
Whilst your nails are still wet, dip your finger into the glitter pot & ensure the nail is covered in a thick layer of glitter. Wait five minutes for your nail to dry.
Step 3 - Brush
Gently brush anyway any excess glitter around the cuticle & nail back into the pot

Now for how I did it:

Step 1 - Paint
This is my nails after one coat - the nail polish isn't very opaque so I decided to do a second layer before dipping into the glitter! Oh and excuse the Saturday Age featuring in this post - I didn't want glitter all over my kitchen table :)

Step 2 - Dip
Dipping into the glitter was a little bit awkward at times but I didn't get glitter everywhere so it wasn't painstakingly hard!

Step 3 - Brush
This is the affect after brushing excess off. I would recommend waiting longer then 5 minutes too brush if you do 2 coats! Trust me, I learnt the hard way haha

Overall:
I'm not a massive fan of glitter but I do really love the effect of these. It was alot easier to apply then I thought - I thought it was going to be as hard as glitter nail polish can be at times but it was super simple! I think if you want to try a new different nail art then this is a great product to grab. It's a bit messy but some newspaper put down will do the trick :)

These are available from here in a range of different colours for $7.95 or you can choose a pack of 3 for $23.45 which comes with a free gift

Have you tried these out?

BYS Matte Lipstick Review

✎ Thursday, 14 March 2013

Today I'm reviewing a product that is fairly new on the market and it's the BYS Matte Lipstick. This product was sent to me for trial and review by the website Fashion Addict  however all opinions are my own of course! Fashion Addict is a Australia site that sells make up brands such as BYS, Maybelline, Covergirl and Rimmel all at discounted prices. They also sell some fashion accessories but I have a post coming up featuring a few things so will go in more depth about that later!

The shade I decided on was 'Disco Inferno' which I didn't think I had many of these colours in my collection. It's a bright pink fuchsia colour which I love!

Top: one swipe Bottom: 3 swipes

What I like:
-the shade
-the texture: it's extremely creamy but not overly so it's hard to apply
-the wear: it wears for about 5 hours before you need to reapply
-the finish, it is matte
-the price, these only retail for only $3.95

What I don't like:
-the packaging, I'm not sure exactly why I just am not a huge fan
-can be a little dry although it's no worse then a MAC lipstick and can be fixed with good lip prep and a gloss over top :)
-the pigmentation isn't amazing but isn't horrible either.

note: no lipliner or lip gloss was used
Overall:
For the price I think that these are fantastic and well worth it! This is the first BYS product I've ever used and I'm so impressed! It was a joy to wear and I felt like these are the same quality as other lipsticks that I've paid $20 for. I want to try other products so if you have any recommendations please leave me them in the comments!

BYS Matte Lipstick can be purchased here for only $3.95

Have you tried any of BYS products?

HerFashionBox - first box ever!

YAY!
Finally my HerFashionBox has arrived on my doorstep. I was super excited to see this waiting for me when I arrived home from uni today. I've seen a few people blog about theirs but have resisted the urge to take a peep because I wanted this review to not be influenced by other peoples posts.

If you aren't familiar with the company I did an original post with general information here

In comparsion to Bellabox and LHI the box was so much bigger! When I picked it up I was instantly really excited to see what was inside because it had a bit of weight about it too.

The first items I pul out are these Redken Diamond Oil trio of shampoo, condition and deep facets. These are meant to be for dull/damaged hair (which is me) and the sample size are obviously decent sizes (yay for no sachets). I'm really excited to try these as I currently use and love the Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner. I'm really looking forward to try the treatment too because I'm yet to try a Redken treatment :)
Shampoo and conditioner RRP $22.95, deep facets treatment RRP $35.50

When I first opened the box it smelt so lovely and this was the culprit! The Circa Home Everyday Soap is a new release and the scent I received I love so that's a bonus. I don't use soap in the shower, I tend to opt for shower gels, but will put this in the guest bathroom ^-^
RRP $9.95

Maybelline New York Colour Sensational lipgloss is in the shade Captivating Coral. I don't usually buy lipgloss so I was happy to see this in the box - also is a full size product which is awesome!
RRP $15.95

This is kind of like a sample pack that Moxie have created with a few different pads and tampons included. It equates to $4.47 of value. I don't mind that I received this but for me I don't really want to sample tampons.. There is more exciting things I'd like to be trying out!

I was pretty excited when I saw this! I love a good make up brush and this is so soft. The Master Make Up by Dean Nixon I've never heard of so was so happy to be able to try out something different. I love the shape of this brush and I feel as though I don't have anything similar so was great.
RRP $30

These are the 2 accessiory items I got. The one on the left is a studded band for your hair.. I love these and think when worn right they can work really well. Then there was also this necklace which I freaking love! So cute and I love the neon details, spikes and the contrast between the thickness of the chains. Perfect.

Also included were these 2 magazines. The one on the left is just more information about the brushes however the one on the right is something that sets this company apart from the rest. They are including a magazine every month! Instead of a flimsy card with a list they are including a mini magazine with cute ways to style the accessories you receive and a page for each of the other products included! I'm really really impressed with this aspect and think it's such a great idea :)

Overall, I'm really impressed with the contents of the box and the customer service has been outstanding! I'm really enjoying this box so far and look forward to seeing what's in next months.

Have you subscribed? What do you think of HFB so far?

Heart Beauty Magazine Launching!

✎ Tuesday, 12 March 2013

I cannot contain my excitement! A magazine totally dedicated to beauty is about to be launched in Australia. What can I say? About. Bloody. Time.

Might I just comment on that amazing advert! I think they nailed it :D

Anyway so the name of the magazine is 'Heart Beauty Magazine' and it's going to be released quarterly so we will all have so much inspiration for our blogs seasonally - I've got no excuses now! The first issue is due to hit the shelves around Easter time this year so not long now :D

The first issue is said to have involved input from people such as Rae Morris and Michael Wolff... Does this make anybody else scream like a little school girl? I CANNOT WAIT.

The magazine will retail for $8.95 which I think so very reasonable and if you subscribe now you'll receive the first issue for FREE!

Are you as excited as me about this new launch?

Covergirl Clean Foundation and Powder Review

✎ Tuesday, 12 March 2013
12 Comments
About 2 weeks ago I received these products for review from the Australian site savvysaver. This is ran by family in Australia to provide us beauty lovers with great deals. Everything on the site is really cheap. For example - they stock Essie nail polish for $8.70 and Covergirl lipsticks for $5.00. Although the site doesn't provide a massive range - the deals are ridiculous and there is always new things being put on the site.
If you're an Australian resident I highly recommend the site for great deals and service - all the girls are lovely!

So the products I were sent which actually a set - a liquid foundation and a powder. This was only $12 on the site!!!
The Covergirl pack is great value for money. Of the Clean foundation and powder sets I decided to go with the blue one which is for oil control, there is other variations for normal skin and sensitive skin.

Covergirl Clean Oil Control Foundation

What they say:
'Clean Makeup's water-based formula, with good-to-you skin Noxzema ingredients, lets your skin breathe, goes on easily, and blends perfectly...'

What I say:
This foundation is great for everyday as it's a light-medium coverage. I found it blended well and you had time to work it into the skin. I love it didn't feel as though you had make up on and I think this will be a foundation I will reach for when I don't want to feel like I have make up on. It did control oil well but didn't trump Revlon colorstay but not much does! I do feel it's really thick and the packaging doesn't compliment the thickness.

What I like:
- the finish, feels light and thin on the skin but provides decent coverage
-good oil control
-slight dewy finish
-shade, matched me perfect

What I didn't like:
-the packaging, store upside down if you ever purchase
-lasting power, pushing lasting for 6 hours

Clean Pressed Powder

What they say:
'...lets your skin breather, for a fresh, natural look that lasts. Our shine-free formula helps make pores less visible, skin looks soft, smooth and naturally beautiful...'

What I say:
I love this powder. Usually I don't like powders and stick to a translucent powder to set my foundation so I was skeptical to this one that would add coverage. I was surprised, it's velvety and smooths over your skin. I feel as though it compliments the foundations really well and there isn't much I don't like about this powder!

What I like:
-smooth and velvety
-provides extra coverage
-great for touch ups

What I didn't like:
-can cake if it isn't applied lightly

Overall
I do enjoy this products and feel as though they are worth the price tag. I wouldn't repurchase the liquid foundation just because of the packaging is a little bit annoying but I really enjoy the actually product and will repurchase the powder again!

So please go check out savvysaver and get a great deal :D

Have you tried these products? What did you think?

Trash Talk #2

✎ Monday, 11 March 2013

Hi guys, I'm back with a 'Trash Talk' post after a week off blogging I've been itching to post!
I've actually got a pretty big lot this month which I'm pretty proud of :) I'm slowly getting through my massive stash of products!

Also a reminder to enter my current giveaway if you haven't already! It's for a MAC lipstick of your choice and is open internationally, see details on how to enter HERE

L'oreal Professional Shine Blonde Shampoo: In my last empties post I had finished off the conditioner. I feel the same about this product as the conditioner: it's a bit overpriced but if you can get it on sale it's fantastic for blonde hair.
Would I repurchase? If on sale.

GKMBJ Lactic Hydrating Shampoo and Fortifying Honey Creme: the name of these made me confused on whether they were a pair or not and having received them in a sample box I didn't know. But I used them as a pair and was completely blown away, they made my hair so soft, I raved about them in a recent post here
Would I repurchase? YES! Would love to try more of their products too!

SmartSkin Facial Wipes: These are reoccurring and so far, my favourite wipes. Only $2 too!
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Nivea Repair and Protect Lip Balm: I recently purchased my first Nivea lip balm and have fallen in love, unlike others these don't dry my lips out even further. So happy that I've found these!
Would I repurchase? Yes!

Australis Lash TLC mascara: What a great budget buy! I love that this is thickening and lengthening. I wouldn't say it's a great night out mascara but for everyday I really enjoyed it :)
Would I repurchase? Maybe.

Face Of Australia Purifying Cleansing Wipes: these are my second favourite to the Smartskin ones.. These are really moist and remove make up well.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Biore Triple Action Toner: WORST PRODUCT EVER. Can't even describe how awful this toner is. Think of everything you wouldn't like in a toner and this is it. Burnt out eyeballs? Check. Stinging for 20 minutes after use? Check. Extreme cooling effect? Check. Tighten skin so much you feel like you've had botox? Check. I don't know how I finished the bottle... Horrible product.
Would I repurchase? Never.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser: this is the formula for combination skin. I really enjoyed this and the bottle lasted me for ages. I used this morning and night and found it never broke me out and rehyrdated my skin well. I will go back to this eventually but I'm trying to use up other products at the moment.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Awe Clearing Serum: I don't even know if this did anything really. I used it but never felt like there was any benefit. It smelt gross too.
Would I repurchase? Nooo.

Organicspa Face Exfoliant: I didn't mind this. It was extremely gritty which I like in an exfoliant but it didn't lather up as well as I would like.
Would I repurchase? No.

Imperial Leather FoamBurst Shower Gel: I love this! It smells amazing and it's fun! It comes out as a gel then foams up. I used it to shave and it was great for that too.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Now for 2 products I just can't get through....

Nude by Nature Mineral Eye Primer: This stung my eyes really badly. It hurt so I can't use it at all - it was a freebie so I don't mind so much.

YesTo Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel: I can't believe this is for sensitive skin! It's extremely cooling (too cooling) and really stung. Again, I can't use something that irritates my skin as much as this does so it's going out.

So that's it for my empties! I love getting through products :)
If you've done an empties post or are a new follower with a blog link me below too!

Current Skin Care Routine

✎ Monday, 4 March 2013
2 Comments
I'm finally happy with the products I'm using on my skin yay! So I thought whilst my routine is pretty spot on I'd do a post on my different routines :)
A bit of background info about my skin. I have oily/combo skin and really am fortunate I don't have too many problems with my skin. I do occasionally get blemishes or dry patches but overall my only concern is oil control in my T-zone.

Morning Time

Nivea Pure & Natural Cleansing Lotion
This is the cleanser I've changed too in the past month for mornings. The reason I like this is because it's really moisturising and gentle. I don't need a deep clean in the morning so this is great because it's really refreshing and is light. I love how I can apply it too dry skin, massage it in and then rinse and it works well. The texture is really lovely as well :)

Nivea Pure & Natural Cleansing Toner
This is the toner I'm currently using and again, like the cleansing lotion, it's light and refreshing. It's not stripping, tingling or anything. It just makes your skin feel beautiful. I really love this product and will probably repurchase this instead of my regular toner (Seaweed Toner by The Body Shop) because I feel it does the same job but is so much more affordable.

Garnier Dark Spot Corrector
I've only just introduced this to my skin care routine so there isn't much I can say about it apart from it hasn't broken me out and is a nice light moisturiser. I'm going to do a full review of this once I've used it a bit more but so far I do like it.

Benefit It's Potent! Eye Cream
I love this! It's so creamy and moisturising. I've done a full review here so I won't ramble but overall a fantastic eye cream and I find it's really nice to use as a base for your concealer.
*I use this morning and night but forgot to include it below.

Night Time

Bioderma Sebium H20
This is a product I discovered through Bellabox when I was subscribed. I'd heard of Bioderma because everybody is the blogging world and youtube love it so I was eager to try the sample I received. At first I didn't not like it but I didn't see what everybody was going crazy over. It wasn't until I switched back to an old make up remover that I realised how amazing it was. It doesn't sting my eyes or disagree with my skin and removes make up really well! I use this OR a make up remover wipe to remove the bulk of my make up before I shower.

The Body Shop Deep Cleansing Facial Wash
This is a holy grail deep cleanser for me. It's so beautiful, lathers well, deep cleans without stripping. And the smell is divine! Every time I use this my face just feels amazing afterwards.

The Body Shop Pore Cleansing Facial Exfoliator
Again, this is a holy grail product for me. This is something I think some people would love and others would hate. I love it because it's gritty, like it's loaded with exfoliator beads, but I enjoy exfoliators that are a bit more gritty. It's not too harsh though (for me) and it lathers really well. I use this in the shower, lately I have been using it most nights because my skin has been crazy but if my skin is normal I only use it 3 times a week.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisuturiser Combination Skin
I've had this for the longest time and I'm only just finishing it up. I love this because it doesn't break me out, doesn't make my face even oilier then it already is and keeps my face hydrated. It is a thinner consistency but 1 pump does my face and neck perfectly. I was using this both morning and night but got sick of it so dropped it back to just night times until I finish it up :)

John Plunkett Gyclotic Peel
I'm only in my first week of this so I can't say too much about whether I like it or not but it's one of those overnight peels where you apply it all over your face then moisturise as normal and it's meant to exfoliate your face over night. You do one week on then have a week off.. I'm going to review this once I've done the cycle a few times :)

On the odd occasion...

Anumi Mircale Recovery
This stuff is to die for. I received this in a sample box and I'm so in love! It's an oil that you can put directly onto your face or if you have oilier skin you can mix it with your night moisturiser. I do the later, and this works wonders. You only need 2 drops of it too! If I have dry patches and use this I'll wake up and they'll be gone and my skin will feel so incredibly soft. I use this 3 times a week. I'm going to be so sad when it ends but I think in future when I have some spare money I'll purchase this.

Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Clearing Gel
This is just the spot treatment I'm using at the moment but I don't think it's the best one ever. I don't like the consistency of it. It does seem to kill spots pretty well though.

Formula 10.0.6 Down To The Pore Blackhead Banishing Pore Strips
I have pretty bad black heads on my nose so I use these once a week to try to clear them up. I prefer this ones over the Biore ones as they don't feel as harsh.

Natio Clay and Plant Face Mask Purifier
This is the mask I use most because it really is a good overall mask. I find if I'm oily, blemish prone or even slightly dry this kind of helps everything. I find it's not a really harsh, drying clay mask which is something I love and I think that's got to do with the constituency because it's really thin. I use this twice a week :)

Formula 10.0.6 Keep Your Cool Breakout Calming Mask
I use this at 'that time of month' I use it 4 days before I'm due everyday and then 3 times a week during my period. I love that you're able to use it everyday because it's a light mask. It's a gel formula which I like and it's really soothing for when your skin is being crazy!

That's my current skincare routine!

Let me know if you have any skincare product you'd think I'd love :)

Weekend Bits

✎ Sunday, 3 March 2013
12 Comments
Over the weekend I had a bit of spare time so thought I'd wander down the street with no intention of buying anything.... And I picked up a few bits.

I wandered into Priceline with the knowledge that Sally Hansen had an amazing GWP. I looked through the stand (which was so poorly stocked and everything in the wrong place!) and found these 2 items. The Salon Manicure were only sale for $10 and this shade was beautiful. The shade is called Wine Not and is a deep berry colour. I nearly picked up a nude but this colour won the battle. Then I also got this very basic item the Problem Cuticle Remover because I've been searching for this and it's never in stock! This was $13.95 :)

This exceeded the spend requirement of $20 so I got this goodie box! I was so impressed with the value although not so much with the fact I had to ask the Priceline cashier twice for it and then she said I didnt spend enough... I then had to get a catalogue and show her I had! Damn bitch.

I then went to Valley Girl and saw this for only $15! I love camo and have maybe spent enough money on the trend but I can't get enough. I love the gold studded detail around the neck :)

I also found this piece on sale for $10. It looks a bit weird on the hanger but it sits really well on me. It has a nice subtle peplum but nothing to drastic. I like the material isn't stretchy too because it holds my boobs in place haha.

So that was my small unintentional weekend haul!

In other news my lovely Mumma gave birthday to a beautiful baby girl in the early hours of Saturday morning. Beautiful Charli Ann was welcomed into our family which was so exciting :)

What happened over your weekend? Anything exciting?
