Make Up Collection Series: Smaller Palettes

Another instalment of my current make up collection series :) this isn't all my palettes. I have a few that live in another spot but these are the ones that are kept in my draws. I didn't take a photo of my draws like I usually do because I don't like the way these are stored :)

You can check out the other posts in this series by clicking the links here

As always if you want any of these products reviewed in full just leave a comment and I'll do my best to get a review up for you.

Ebay Palettes

As you can probably tell neither of these have really been used. I thought both would be a great idea but I really have barely touched either.

Australis Nudist Palette

I was so excited about this palette when it came out and I really love the darker shades however the lighter shades aren't the best quality.

Jemma Kidd Palette

This is a newer edition to my collection. I bought it super cheap off ASOS when JK went under and everything was on clearance. The shadows are great quality :)

MUA Undressed Palette

I haven't used the MUA palette much because I just forgot I had it. This is meant to be a dupe of Naked 1 (I don't have that) so that's why I bought it. This is super affordable and although some shades are chunky I think overall this is a great budget buy.

Gorgeous Cosmetics Custom Quad

This was a gift so I don't know the shades sorry but this is one of my most used and loved smaller palettes. I love Gorgeous Cosmetics! I think they're make up is at such a high standard. I love that this quad has a blush included - perfect for travel.

NYX 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette

Another great budget buy. I use the top row alot and find these shadows really great to work with.

Essence Home Sweet Home eyeshadow + Adorn Mineral eyeshadow

These are a bit random. The Essence shadow is for my Z Palette I just haven't put it in yet and the Adorn I got in a beauty box forever ago and I've never used it - now I've swatched it I really should because it's so pretty.

MAC Custom Quad

Retrospeck | Amber Lights | Bronze | Brown Down

My favourite smaller palette. I love these shades. Generally when I travel I take this and the Gorgeous quad :)

Trash Talk #4

I have finished off a few products so thought I would do a quick empties post. I had a camera malfunction and didn't get a great quality photo and I have already disposed of all the trash - sorry! These are the products I've finished up lately :)

Pelactiv Facial Refining Deep Cleansing Scrub
This I haven't finished but I've gotten to the point where I'm not going to keep something I don't like and just have it sitting around for 6 months or more. I don't like the smell of this it's really chemically? And I don't find it the best scrub either so it's going out!
Would I repurchase? Obviously no.

China Glaze Nail Strengthener
WOOO! I finished a nail product. I really loved this as a base but towards the ends it did get gloopy and made my nail polish bubble. But the product was actually really great as a base. I didn't find my nails much stronger but I'm currently using the OPI Nail Envy and find that the China Glaze does pretty much the same thing.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Smartskin Facial Wipes x 2
I don't need to say much about these, they feature in every empties. I have gone through 2 packets because I use these to wipe off swatches as well as on my face.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

The Body Shop Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wipes
Holy grail product right there. I have been using this for as long as I've been using skincare. I love that it cleans your face so well but doesn't strip your skin. I have tried other cleansers but nothing measures up. This is incredible. I love the whole seaweed line. I tried to find something cheaper for a cleanser but just couldn't live without this.
Would I repurchase? Yes!!

Australis Make Up Finishing Spritz
I have a love hate relationship with this. I never used to like it but I found in summer this was amazing for setting my make up and also for refreshing it throughout the day. I did buy it again but I've stopped using this since it's been cooler and don't enjoy it as much. I think it's something that'll be pulled out seasonally.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Tresemme FreshStart Dry Shampoo
This isn't a very popular dry shampoo but I find with blonde hair I can get away with most dry shampoos. I liked the smell of this, it's really fruity but the product wasn't that good. It didn't absorb oil as well as other dry shampoos that are cheaper.
Would I repurchase? No.

Puretopia Glowing Smooth Body Polish
I got this in a Priceline body bag last year and never used it until I found it in my stash and decided to give it a go. It's really abrasive which I liked and found it super exfoliating. I only used this on my lower body because I found it to rough on my upper body. I did really enjoy this product though.
Would I repurchase? If on sale.

You, Me & Everybody Sumptuous Skin Mousse
What a strange product. It's pretty much a foam and it's so gross. It smells yuk. It says it's for dry skin? It's really not moisturising at all! I did finish it though. It was fun and a nice idea but not a fan of the product - it just didn't work.
Would I repurchase? No.

Benefit They're Real Mascara
I really love this - another holy grail. It's so so so good! Everything that you can possibly want in a mascara and this is it. I got this in a beauty box but have owned 2 other full sizes.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Matrix Biolage Smoothing Conditioner
I've used the Biolage range for a long time, it's what I used as a kid and it brings back so many memories! I liked this just like I  liked all the other products from this range. It's is moisturising and you don't need much product.
Would I repurchase? Maybe- I'm happy with my haircare routine.

Australis Primer
This is the only primer I've used until recently and I like this because it's really smoothing. I don't use a primer to extend the life of my make up like others do - I use it to have a layer between my skin care and make up.
Would I repurchase? Already have.

Coles Make Up Rounds
I buy these when Swisspers are on special and I really hate these. They would fall apart in whilst using them.
Would I repurchase? Nooo.

That's everything I've finished up lately :)

April Favourites

This month has been a month of discoveries. I've found some new products and also gone back to others. I haven't included too many products because I've narrowed it down to things I've REALLY been loving :)

For my base I've been trying out these two products. The Australis Stay Put! Longwear Foundation has been what I've been opting for in the second half of the month. It's a light/medium coverage that is has luminous finish. It's not the best at oil control but I find if you set it well with a powder then it'll last.    I have a full review coming up this week. Towards the start of the month I went back to this sample of the Laura Mericer Silk Creme Foundation I tried this in the summer and found it didn't sit well on super hot days. However, coming back to it in the cooler months and I'm blown away! It's a medium coverage with a beautiful finish.

Due to having a few blemishes I had to pull out this Savoir Faire Duo. I liked using the darker shade in this duo to cover up the redness of the blemish - this product is soooo pigmented it covered anything. I also started using this Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch under my eyes which covered my dark circles AND brightened so well.

For cheeks I pulled out these from my draw and fell in love. This NYX Blush in Pinched is the perfect peachy shimmer shade that is easy to slap on in a rush. It brightens your face and makes you look like you've gone to the effort of applying a highlight. When I wasn't wearing that blush I was opting to highlight with the E.l.f blush in Gotta Glow. This is the perfect highlight for everyday - not to much not to little.

This month liquid/lipgloss hybrids stole my heart. The Australis Pout Paste in Pash Me Pink has been my most reached for this month. I reviewed it here so I won't go on about it but if you haven't tried this affordable product I do recommend it. I also have reviewed the Rimmel Apocalips here but these are also amazing. In that post I have swatches on my lips of the shades I own these two are the ones I've worn most. Celestial is perfect for everyday and Apolcaliptic is a vibrant pink which I have ben wearing at night a lot.

For hair I've pulled out this L'oreal Tech Liss Control oil I know this has been repackaged but I've had this for years. I put this through my hair when it's half way dried and find it doesn't dry as frizzy naturally. I also use it halfway through blow drying and it helps then too :) it leaves your hair smooth and shiny.

Nyx blush, Elf highlighter, Australis pout paste, Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial and Apocaliptic

What have you been loving this month?

BYS Caviar Nails + Tips for Application

✎ Thursday, 25 April 2013

I'm sure you're all aware of this new craze for nails. Caviar nails are a pretty effect where instead of the typical glitter nail polish there is tinie tiny beads in which you apply to your nails for a 3-D affect. I think it's so fantastic that BYS is coming out with this kits because they're so affordable.

You may remember recently I did a post about BYS Glitter for Nails here the caviar nail sets are extremely similar with application.

These are the two sets I ended up with. The first is a called 'Strike a Pose' and the other 'That's Show Biz'. Both are gorgeous but today I'll just be using the pink set - I will be posting another NOTD using the red because I'd like to show you the affect of that one :)

This is what the kit includes: a small brush, the glitter and the nail polish.

Now I'm warning you all this is messy stuff! But how gorgeous is that!!!!

Step 1: After applying a base coat/nail strengthener apply your first layer of the pink polish.

Step 2: Once that is dry apply your second coat. Whilst this coat is still wet GENTLY dip your nail into the pot of beads.

Step 3: Again gently, press the beads into the nail polish - don't press too hard otherwise you'll smudge your nail polish. Don't worry if it looks a bit chunky with the beads - the next step will fix that up.

Step 4: After that coat is fully dry - don't rush make sure it is dry! Take the small brush and brush any excess beads that aren't fully attached to the varnish. This will clean up the nails.

Step 5: Is the trick! Apply some hair spray (any kind) too the nails which have the caviar beads applied. This will make them stick even more. Allow this to dry.

Step 6: I didn't but you can apply a top coat if you wish too :)

The finish product:

Extra tips:
-Do take your time with application! It'll smudge and be a mess if you don't
-When dipping your fingers into the pot take your finger out slowly so any excess doesn't fly everywhere but lands back in the pot instead (I learnt the hard way)
-The hairspray is an extra step that I feel you should do to set the beads in place that little bit more
-Don't stress if it doesn't look 'right' as you're doing it! Once you allow it to set the brushing over the nails really does clean them up!

Overall:
I think these are so fun and I love the effect of the little beads! I bet they're going to be so hard to get off though haha. I love all the colour ranges available too! I was really scared to apply these because I thought it was going to be tricky but it really is pretty simple if you're patient :)

I will be doing another NOTD when I use the other colour because I'm excited to share what it looks like on with you all! So keep your eyes out for that one in the next week or so :)

These are available here in a range of colours for $7.95

Do you like the caviar nail look?

This product was provided for consideration - honesty as always
