A SERUM THAT WORKS

✎ Tuesday, 25 March 2014
My latest and greatest mission is to find a serum that makes a visible difference in hyper-pigmentation that is scattered across my forehead and chin. The Ultraceutical Even Skintone Serum* promises to visibly brighten, smooth and refine your complexion diminishing the look of any pigmentation or discolouration as well has enhancing the benefits of any other products you follow it up with. Sounds dreamy right?

This product comes in three different versions: mild, regular and concentrate. I have the mild because I'm a first timer and I think it would be too much if I went to one of the more potent strengths right off the bat. I would recommend starting at the mild version for newbies - better safe then sorry.
The product itself is packaged with a dropper which makes it easy to dispense the two-three drops that is needed per application. The consistency of the serum is almost gel like so I like too rub it between my fingertips before applying it all over my face. The smell is a little potent but once it sinks into the skin the smell is undetectable. The recommended application is every second night until you've built up a tolerance to the product. This serum is a little drying so I am still only using this every other night so that my skin doesn't dry out. As I said, this is a little drying because of the high level of alcohol in it, so I follow it up by an oil as well as a night cream and I haven't had a problem. It is worth being wary of if you have dry skin to begin with.

As for results I have noticed a difference in my hyper-pigmentation however I think it's something only I notice. In saying that I do think with continued use my skin will become more and more even so I'm happy. I also notice a vast improvement in my skin texture the mornings after I've applied this, my skin is smooth and silky which makes applying base products a dream!

Overall I think that this product does exactly what it is marketed too do and I'm impressed. I have seen results in the past three weeks and I'm going to continue to use it. If this didn't have such a high level of alcohol it probably would be my perfect serum, 'holy grail status' even. As I said if you follow it up with really hydrating products it's not an issue at all but it is still a fault in the product for me. I would recommend it if you're looking for a seriously effective product that will help stubborn pigmentation. With consistent use I think this has the potential too clear up hyper-pigmentation you thought would never budge.

  4. Great that it reduced your hyper pigmentation a bit. At the moment, my rosehip oil seems to be fading my scarring so I'll probably stick to that as I don't think I can afford this serum just yet. Haha,

  5. I've been on the lookout for a serum that actually helps with skin tone and pigmentation! I'm a little sceptical with a lot of the products out there as I don't think they work. Shame that you didn't have photos to show the improvements the Ultraceuticals serum gave you! I would try it although my skin is quite dry and sensitive, so I don't want to risk it being irritated :(

    1. I'm sure if you google this product you'll find some before and afters. Sorry for not including any - I just didn't think too take any 'befores' so when it came to review I was a little bummed I didn't.

  6. I've never heard of this product before, but I'm forever searching for products to help fade scarring. I feel like slowly I'm getting somewhere but it's been taking forever! This sounds nice and effective though!

  8. Sounds promising! I tried the Clinique Even Better (?) serum and it didn't work out, so I'm really wary of these products claiming to address hyperpigmentation and discoloration issues.
