HOW TO: HAIR CHALK WITH LADY JAYNE

✎ Monday, 24 March 2014
In the past I've been adventurous with my hair in all the wrong ways. I once had dark chocolate brown hair that made me look like a ghost... It was horrific. Ever since then I've cherished my beloved blonde locks to much to do change anything drastically. When the ombre trend arrived I was tempted, my best friend had bright pink ombre for a while, but I couldn't bring myself too do it. Lady Jayne's Colour Bombs* have allowed me too dip my toes into the bright colour trend without any regrets.

The colour I've used today is 'Rebel Pink' and let me tell you deciding what colour to use first was the hardest part. The applicator is one of my favourite parts of the Colour Bomb, it's easy too use and has a cover you can slip back on after used ensuring that the chalk isn't going everywhere!
Things you'll need:
-A brush
-A clip
-Lady Jayne applicator
-Hairspray
-Dry Shampoo or a leave-in treatment (only if you have light coloured hair)
STEP 1: Put a towel around your body so that if any spillage does occur it's not going to ruin your clothes. I found either that or applying it over the sink is the neatest way. If you are blonde or have light coloured hair it's recommended that you use a dry shampoo or leave in treatment before starting the application process. I honestly forgot to because I was busy trying to take photo and I had no trouble with staining so it is more of an extra precaution.

STEP 2: Next section your hair so it's easy to apply.  I found the smaller the sections the more intense colour ended up. How you do this step really depends on how you want to customise your look so have fun with it!

STEP 3: All you need too do is place your hair in between the applicator, apply a little pressure to clamp the hair and then drag down - like you would if you were straightening your hair.  You will notice a little bit of residue left behind but all you need too do is shake the hair and it falls into the towel or sink.

STEP 4: This is my look-shocked-at-what-I'm-doing-to-my-hair-face because I really wasn't sure if I liked it after the first strand. Haha. Now all you need to spray your hair with a hairspray to seal that colour in. This is vital because it ensures the colour won't transfer onto your skin and clothing!

It's that easy! I found the application a breeze, a little messy, but as I said if you do it over a sink or with the towel wrapped around you then it's not bad at all. This is available in three other colours, two are just a refill for the applicator but all are the same price! I think they're such a fun way to do something a little different with your hair without any commitment.

Putting together this post as part of the Lady Jayne #colouryourworld campaign has made me step outside my comfort zone and do something I would never done without a nudge. I love that it was simple an easy without any trouble in removing the colour or it staining my blonde locks. I would 100% recommend these too anyone who is after a hair chalk but unsure with which one too go for.
What do you think of the hair chalk craze?

  2. Oh I LOVE the pink on you, so much fun! I've been eyeing these off, but am not sure if it will look as good on a brunette... does it wash out easily?

  4. I was going to try it a while ago but heard it really dries your hair out and makes it really brittle? Did it affect the texture of your hair much?

    1. I wasn't sure about it drying out my hair so I actually used a hair mask after removing it with shampoo and I didn't have any issues at all :) the texture of my hair is exactly the same as before using it xx

  6. Woah it looks gorgeous! I have naturally dark hair which means the colours probably won't show up :( but I've always been tempted to try ombre hair done professionally. Btw, how long do the colours last you?
