I'm the first to admit I'm shocking at using my imagination when choosing out tea blends.. I struggle at picturing the different ingredients combined, brewed and hitting my taste buds so I do prefer to try before I buy. I've picked up a few beautiful blends from markets but I rarely go to markets so when I was tweeted a link to Monstrositea I signed up immediately.
Monstrositea is a monthly subscription that sends you four different samples of loose leaf tea. I love that I'm trying new blends, especially ones I wouldn't pick out myself, and then I'm able to purchase in the Tea Shop if I love them!
I asked owner Katherine what inspired her to start Monstrositea and here is what she said:
'Two things! I buy a lot of tea, many of which I drink a few times and then put in my tea cupboard, to the point that my tea cupboard became a whole shelf in my pantry, a shelf in the kitchen and more... tea overfloweth! I thought it would be great to be able to try teas with enough to get a good feel for it, without committing the money and shelf space to a whole box until I knew that I loved it.
Second, I love travel and talking to people about tea. New smells and tastes are the essence of travel, and tea often features in family traditions and day to day life throughout the world. I have collected teas from all over, in fact I brought 3kgs of tea home from my trip to China, that was an interesting customs experience! The dream is to travel the world curating incredible tea and cultural experiences for our wonderful Monstrositea community.'
Sound familiar? I'm exactly like Katherine in regards to an overflowing tea stash :P
So like other subscription services there are a few different options to sign up too. I'm currently signed up for the Monstrositea Monthly box however I'm considering switching to the bi-monthly. I'm loving having something coming each month that isn't a beauty box!

I do love myself some typical English Breakfast, I'm not very adventurous when it comes to tea! I do really like Turkish apple/cherry from T2 but they are mostly sugar :P haha, I would love to try different types!

Oh wow, I've never heard of this before but I love everything about it! I'm a big tea drinker, and what an adorable logo. I'm the US so unfortunately I'm not eligible for the giveaway or subscription service, but I can cross my fingers that they'll expand eventually!

Ohh....TEA! My hubby is slightly irked by my tea collection (although he did build me a special shelf just for it, so is also understanding of my love), and this sounds *perfect* for me - I have exactly the same issue (although I do actually drink it all, there is just a looooot of tea there). My favorite? A hard call to pick just one, but I always always always return to T2 Ginger Spice tea, if I had the option to I would pick Chili Kiss to spice it up even more, the two together are heaven, and if I'm allowed to be totally indulgent, a sprinkle of Creme Brulee in there helps sweeten it to perfection - no added sugar or milk, just as it comes. Hmmm...off to make myself a cup now!
ReplyDeleteI also love tea! I really love going to a tea shop and trying out new ones, especially the fruit teas. My favourite everyday tea is French Earl Gray.

That is so clever! I have never heard of a monthly tea service before!
ReplyDeleteI love a mix of rose and english breakfast. It is just so comforting.
ReplyDeleteOoooh i love tea! Especially coming into Autumn in Australia!

I love fruity teas and good old regular black tea. I think my brother would absolutely love this tea subscription service. He's a bit of a tea connoisseur. He has a ginormous collection of tea (much like my nail polishes) and all sorts of fancy teapots and cups, as well as a really fancy kettle that boils to the optimum temperature depending on the type of tea you're brewing.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute idea! :) My fave teas are French Earl Grey and Sencha Peach
ReplyDeleteI'm a tea junkie, I seriously consider it my personal form of Valium, something about brewing a cup of tea and tucking myself under the covers while I blog/watch tv/read/do whatever makes me feel so much better about life. Personally I like creamy tea and if it contains vanilla I will die a happy girl.
ReplyDeleteOut of all the crazy teas out there, I had to come back to what I have at my parent's place which is China jasmine tea or oolong tea.

Definitely interested in this giveaway, loving the pun in Monstrositea's name hahaha. My favourite type of tea is any black tea really, but I have to add a little milk to it. Chai tea has always been a favourite, but I've been enjoying this "Maple tea" I bought while I was in Canada, it's essentially black tea leaves with a maple syrup flavour -- so sweet :D
ReplyDeleteI'm following you on Bloglovin', and I've just started following Monstrositea on both Twitter and Instagram. My handle is @michalogy on all platforms :) and I'm from Melbourne, Australia!

Oh dear my tea stash is huge and I don't think I'll ever get through it! I love the look of Montrositea, thanks for sharing! Going to have to sign up ASAP! My current favourite is Darjeeling tea! X
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely alternative to a beauty box, I do love a good tea! My morning favourite is a classic English breakfast but I also love peppermint and I found a fabulous choc peppermint black tea that is oh so yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I normally go for English Breakfast or Peppermint, but I also like experimenting with fruity teas. I never know if I'll like something though, so it would be great to try out different blends before committing to buying the full sizes!

Ahhh.... Guilty as charged tea lover here with a cupboard-full of different teas!
ReplyDeleteI love herbal and fruit teas. it's quite difficult for me to pick a favorite as I normally savour according to my mood (which explains the cupboard full). I love a cup of Chai or Rose tea in the afternoon/before dinner, where else my night (after-dinner) to-go tea are mainly peppermint or chamomile, unless i feel like something else. And I adore a good cup of Apple tea from Turkey (best one I've had so far)!

omg This is such a brilliant idea! I have my fingers crossed that I win so I can put the credit towards a sub for my bestie who is even more tea mad than I am. My favourite would have to be the sweet blends that go well with milk, nice chai's and the like. At the moment I'm drinking a Sweet Coconut Chai blend and it is amazing :)
