THE LOWDOWN ON TEXTURISING SPRAYS

✎ Monday, 23 June 2014

Texturising sprays are the new kid on the block when it comes to hair styling and they've well and truly blown up in the beauty community but for good reason. In the past products associated with added texture come in the forms of sea salt spray or a mousse applied before drying the hair. Mousses can be hard to work with, also require to thinking ahead which I'm no good at, and sea salt sprays can be drying. Texturising sprays give you the ability to added instant texture and volume throughout either your roots or lengths without causing too much stress or dryness.

The cheapest offering on the market is from V05 with their Give Me Texture Dry Texturising Spray available in most supermarkets. The price reflects the quality as this is my least favourite of the three. I found that it didn't give my hair any real texture unless I used alot and then it become crunchy, almost wet looking very easily. It is nice if you have patience with applying throughout your hair. Next up is from Toni & Guy with the Rough Texturiser* being added to their already impressive line of styling products. This one is fantastic if you're wanting to apply both to your roots and lengths without too much hold. It gives you added volume and texture instantly! The best bit is that you don't feel as though you have anything in your hair because it's so light however it does mean you don't get long-lasting results. It is perfect for giving freshly washed hair a little less fluffy appearance. Lastly, and my personal favourite, is the Fudge Big Hair Think Big Texture Spray*. This one I have spoken about before on More Than Adored so I don't need to sing it's praises anymore. This one offers extra texture, volume and unlike the T&G one it'll hold that all day but it can easily be brushed out and restyled if you wish. A great option if you don't mind feeling product in your locks and want long-lasting results.

Have you tried a texturising spray yet? What did you think?

  1. I was so close to purchasing the V05 Give Me Texture after falling in love with their plumping dry shampoo. I think I will pass now and spend a little more to achieve results that last longer!

As far as texture spray goes, I have only tried salt water sprays.

  2. I've been wanting to try out the texturising spray trend, but I already tried a sea salt spray and it did nothing for me. I don't think I have the right hair type for these products to have an effect on!

  5. I haven't tried a texturizing spray yet but I think I need to get on the bandwagon for when my hairs starting to get dirty & ends up looking limp even after dry shampoo! I'll know to perhaps bypass the V05 when looking now!
