During summer I’m a basic gal and I find it really hard to look like I’m not wearing the same t-shirt over and over. I thought I’d share a few things I’ve done this year to change things up.
Trying a new shade is definitely doing to make things look fresh. This tee I’m wearing is this gorgeous rust colour from Betty Lane who do amazing stuff – check them out! I never thought I’d be into rust but it really compliments my existing wardrobe and I love the way it teams with a mid-blue short. These shorts are the ‘Boho Shorts’ from Nobody Denim and although they aren’t something that I usually go for in terms of cut (super short!) I LOVE the cut. It is super flattering and comfy to wear. Before owning a rust colour tee I owned black, grey and white so the colour change is SO appreciated.
Another simple way to change up your summer basics is too look at shapes. Personally I’m an oversize gal through and through. I love the freedom you have with an oversize tee and there is nothing more comfortable BUT if you own the same tee in 4 colours like I do you can feel like you’re wearing the same thing everyday…. Because you are. This year I’ve tried some new shapes like a cropped singlet, a slim fitting off the shoulder number and even a bralette. All but the last one seemed to work well so step outside your comfort zone and just try it on!!
THE WAY YOU WEAR IT
This tee is actually really oversized and relaxed in fit which is my fave (obvs) BUT it’s instantly transformed by tucking it in. I think that sometimes it’s not about what it is it’s about how you wear it and if you take a second to look over your wardrobe! Whether it’s tucking something in, knotting it at the side or wearing it layered somehow it can really make a piece look completely different.
What are your favourite ways to change up your summer basics?
