Maybelline has to be one of my favourite brands of the moment. Some of the latest releases from the brand are absolutely incredible and there are some really reliable products in their range too. Here is the lowdown on all things Maybelline and my top picks when it comes to shopping the brand.
BASE
There are a few different ranges available from Maybelline that catered to different needs in terms of coverage and finish. I have to say I haven’t always been a big fan of Maybelline bases and I find them quite hit and miss. The newest release comes in the form of the Maybelline Better Skin Foundation & Concealer. I thoroughly enough the foundation and find it very smoothing, medium coverage and it’s very easy to blend into the skin but the concealer was a major miss. I found it oxidised turning orange throughout the day which was awful! A concealer from Maybelline I would recommend is the Fit Me or the Dream Lumi Touch which are both products that I’ve purchased numerous times. As for the Age Rewind I find I’m the only person that doesn’t get on with this. Not only is the packaging rubbish but it also is so ashy on my skin making it look dull and grey. The last base I regularly reach for is the Maybelline Pure BB Combo/Oily Skin although this isn’t a perfect product I think it is a fantastic light coverage for days where you’re not going to be out all day but you still want to wear some sort of base.
EYES
We’ll start with cream eyeshadows and the Maybelline Color Tattoos are a firm favourite in my collection. Although when applied heavily they can crease when applied with a light hand they’re really long-lasting and the colour range when looking at the original and the metal collection is on point. I particularly adore Barely Branded as an everyday base.
Maybelline win over most other brands in Priceline when it comes to eyeliner with having just about anything you’ll ever need in their range. My most loved has to be the Hyper Glossy Liquid Eyeliner because of the glossy finish, user-friendly applicator and longevity. For travel I’m always drawn to packing the Big Eyes Liner because the dual with the white and black comes in handy, particularly when creating a smouldering look. The Master Smoky by Eyestudio I personally think are better used as an eyeshadow base or blended out, for a crisp line it difficult with the applicator. One of my favourite products Maybelline have released to date is the Master Kajal Kohl Liner which are amazing for using on an able to quickly achieve a winged look. They can be blended out or kept as a crisp line but overall the design is fantastic and one I’m really enjoying using.
For eyeshadow I don’t actually own too many products from Maybelline but I do adore the Maybelline Big Eyes range particular the Luminous Brown quad. the warm hues are gorgeous and each colour really compliments the other. Of course the formulation isn’t going to measure up to Urban Decay or Stila quality but for something affordable, especially if you’re still toying around with different tones and colours these quads are a great way to start. A product I wouldn’t recommend in terms of shadows is the Colour Tattoo Pure Pigments I find these very hit and miss. They don’t transfer onto the lid and overall just aren’t very good quality.
Mascaras is where it’s at for Maybelline with alot of people swearing by the whole range. I particularly enjoy the newest release, the Big Eyes Mascara Waterproof because is really holds a curl but can be built up quite well. The other two I’ve found require a little bit more work for me to get the look I’m after is the Falsies Volum Express and the Colossal Volum’ Express. Both are fantastic for length and definition but I find that they require lots of building. For brows I really do enjoy the Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara however I’m a little disappointed by the poor colour range available.
CHEEKS
It’s been a while since Maybelline have released new products in the cheek department so I’m interested to see if they have anything coming out in the coming months. Regardless I’m a huge fan of the Fit Me blushes and I particularly love the Medium Nude shade which I’ve owned for a very long time. I love the formulation - it’s not too pigmented but very smooth and easy to apply. As for the bronzers I do really like the Dream Sun Bronzing Powder however when I am my palest this can throw a little orange on me. When I have a tan it’s a fantastic powder for a little added colour all over.
LIPS
I’ve been a big fan of Maybelline lipsticks for a very long time. I’m particularly fond of the good old Colorsensational line and I’ve repurchased the shade Coral Crush twice already. The formulation is smooth, comfortable and lasts well on the lips. The Bold Mattes and Strip Nudes are both newer collections but I do enjoy them both. From the nude collection Tantalizing Taupe is my pick and I thoroughly enjoy the glossy finish to these lipsticks. The Bold Matte range isn’t exactly a ‘wow’ collection of colours but each are still very beautiful and wearable colours. My most worn is the red which is MAT4 but I do think that every colour in the range is beautiful.
Away from lipsticks and the glosses that Maybelline do are fantastic. I highly recommend checking them out because they’re so comfortable and easy to wear. I only have two colours because I’m not a huge gloss wearer but the shades Luminous Latte and Captivating Coral are gorgeous. Luminous Latte looks amazing over just about any lipstick!
