BUDGET BEAUTY BUYS #2

So the pharmacy brands have been on fire lately with some really killer products hitting the shelves that won’t break the bank. Here are our top picks of the moment.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make Up Remover
I’ve recently switched to waterproof mascara for a day to day wear and I absolutely adore the Clarins make up remover but it’s so expensive! This is pretty much the same but it’s super affordable at just $15. This is a dual phase product so you shake it up, dispense onto a cotton round and then wipe over your eyes. It does an amazing job and the best part? The residue left behind isn’t ridiculously oily! Win.

Covergirl XL Nail Gels
When this landed at the More Than Adored office I was sure it was going to be another budget brand miss the whole ‘gel polish’ trend that’s happening but of course I was wrong to doubt Covergirl. These require just one coat, I do two out of habit, for a completely opaque gel-like finish. Topped with a good top coat they last seriously well. We have a swatch/review post coming really soon so keep an eye out for that.

Burt’s Bees Lipglosses
I’m a complete lipgloss convert and as the weather has been heating up I’ve been switching the heavy lipsticks out for these. They are sticky at all, give your lips a lovely sheen and are comfortable on the lips. Burt’s Bees are always adding new colours to their lipgloss line so it’s worth visiting the stand every so often!

Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder
Mine is looking a little worse for wear but this stuff is incredible. It’s a translucent powder you can use on a big fluffy brush to help set everything in place without adding any crazy coverage. This doesn’t give you a white cast and leaves your skin feeling silky, an absolute staple for the make up bag!

Avene Rich Skin Recovery Cream
Now I don’t have very dry skin but this cream saved my skin a little while back. It’s designed for dry, sensitive and reactive skin so when my skin was having a little bit of a ‘moment’ I pulled this out to replace my usual night cream. This is rich so I was still getting a serious hit of moisture but without the extra frills. If you’re having problems with your skin I would recommend looking into the Avene line!

L’oreal Paris Ombre Pure Shadows
These are getting to the higher end of the pharmacy price point but you know how it is, Priceline is constantly having sales! It’s not often I’m overly impressed with budget eyeshadows. Most of the time there look fantastic once applied, which usually is a bit of a task, but come lunchtime they’ve either faded or creased or both. These are incredible quality and probably the best I’ve found in the pharmacy. They’re pigmented, long-lasting and very blendable. As I said not cheap but when there is a sale they’re worth picking up.

L’oreal Brow Artist Plumper
You know those products you try and then just go ‘ah!’ - this was one of them for me. I’ve always wanted to try the Benefit Gimme Brow but $30+ price tag just isn’t appealing so when this came out I was all over it. The brush is small so it’s super easy to apply throughout the brows without making a mess and the colour is a great match for blondes. It’s one I’ll continually purchase as it’s became my everyday brow product of choice.

Gonna run out of eye makeup remover soon, so I might check out The Body Shop! I’ve wanted to try the gel nails, so it’s great that Covergirl has come out with their own.
