THE EDIT: FESTIVE REDS

It’s coming up to Christmas and who doesn’t love rocking red lips at this time of year?! If you’re on the hunt for the perfect festive colour we’ve got you covered. Here are our favourites for any occasion!

The Glossy Reds
Glossy red lips aren’t for everyone but they certainly make your lips look full and plump - just be careful if you’re going out for a meal! Rimmel Apocalips in ‘Big Bang’ is a gorgeous, pigmented true red that requires little effort when applying. For something slightly more long-lasting and orange toned try the Australis Pout Paste in Love Bites.

The Sheer (ish) Reds
These are perfect for everyday because they give you that sheer wash of festive colour without being too over the top. I’ve been reaching for the L’oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire in 301 Rouge Soprano which is infused with argan oils making it super comfortable to wear. The other sheer red I recommend is the Clinique Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato, an oldie but a goodie.

The Matte Reds
For a long-lasting lip colour that’ll get you through eating and drinking you just can’t go past a matte lip. The finish is classy and you don’t have to worry about smearing it across your face half way through dinner. The Sleek Matte Me in Rioja Red is slightly orange toned, gorgeous on blondes and once set it really don’t move. Similarly the Australis Velourlips in NY-CEE is completely budge proof but is more of a true red.

The Low Maintenance Reds
If you’re anything like me once the lip product is applied there isn’t much chance of you touching up throughout the night. For those of you that just can’t stand having to stress about your lip colour you need Mac Ruby Woo. It’s a pain to apply but once on and built up it seriously does not move. It’s my favourite true red lipstick that I always come back too. Another formulation the is amazing in terms of staying put is the L’oreal Infallible Two-Step Longwear Lip Colour in 505 Resolution Red. It’s slightly pink-toned but look gorgeous on the lips. Mac ‘Ruby Woo’, Australis Velourlips in ‘NY-CEE’, Rimmel Apocalips in ‘Big Bang’, Australis Pout Paste in ‘Love Bites, L’oreal Infallible Two-Step in ‘Reslution Red’, Sleek Matte Me in ‘Rioja Red’, L’oreal Extraordinaire in ‘Rouge Soprano’, Clinique Chubby Stick in ‘Two Ton Tomato’
