WORK APPROPRIATE, LOW MAINTENANCE LIP COLOURS

It’s no secret I’m a big lover of a bold lip but for work it’s nice to have something low maintenance that isn’t going to bother you throughout the day. Here six options that I have heavily on rotation.

L’oreal Colour Riche Extradonaire Rose Melody
I’ve spoken about these quite regularly so I won’t harp on about it - this formulation is heaven. It’s super comfortable, moisturising almost and doesn’t dry out your lips throughout the day. I find they lose the glossy element rather then the coverage so you won’t be caught with patchy colours. Rose Melody is the perfect mid-tone pink for a light/medium skin tone.

Red Earth Lip Passion in 02 Charisma
2014 is the year I’ve been converted to lip gloss and this Red Earth one played a huge part in that. It’s slightly shimmery however I like how that makes your lips look super glossy and full. There is no tackiness or stickiness to the formulation so it’s very comfortable to wear throughout the day. I will say this doesn’t last very well so it’s one to carry with you.

Jurlique Hydra-Gloss in I’m Blushing
Very similar to the Red Earth gloss this one offers a lovely cream finish to the lips. The cute compact packaging makes it so easy to have it in your pocket for keeping your lips feeling nourished throughout the day. No mirror required - win!

Mac Sweetie
I don’t think this lip colour gets enough love because it’s such an amazing colour. Sweetie is a lustre finish making it super creamy with a high shine finish. Although in the tube it can look a little shimmery, on the lips it creates a gorgeous slightly mauve/plum shade that in’t too light or too dark. Don’t be fooled by google swatches this shade is stunning.

Rimmel Colour Rush Balm in 200 Keep Mauving
These are relatively new on the Australian market and I don’t hear too much about them but I’m really enjoying the two shades I have. This is a very neutral mauve shade that provides decent coverage without too much of a glossy finish. I find these seem to fade quite evenly so although they aren’t super long-lasting you don’t have to stress about touching up.

Arbonne Sheer Moisture Lipstick in Rosebud
Another neutral pink but this one is that old school thick but sheer, moisturising lipstick with a high shine finish. It’s not my favourite formulation however this colour is stunning and this lives in my handbag for days when I forget to apply a lip colour - it goes with any make up look.

Ooh, I really want to try some of these now — I’m trying to find more neutral-ish pink shades, as unless I’m working with fresh food, I tend to go to work with really bold colours! If I’m after something low maintenance, I tend to go for the CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balms — very nice colours that can be built up, and they’re super comfortable!
