Mac lipsticks are one of those things everyone loves to have but some people just can’t justify the crazy price tag. Today I’m sharing with you a fantastic budget option for the ever-so popular Ruby Woo.

Ruby Woo from MAC is undoubtably an iconic shade. The bright matte red has won the hearts of many, mine included, for good reason too. It offers a blue toned red that makes your teeth look whiter and complexion look brighter whilst still being a sophisticated shade. Want to feel sassy? Pop on Ruby Woo. It’s appropriate for day or night and has such an incredible lasting power thanks to the super matte finish.

So you get it right? Ruby Woo is an incredible shade and it’s pretty hard to find a lipstick too beat it in my books BUT Rimmel’s 22 from their ‘Kate Moss’ line has come pretty close. It’s super pigmented, slightly less bright then Ruby Woo but the difference is virtually undetectable on the lips. The obvious difference is the formulation. While I can rave about the longevity of Ruby Woo I just can’t about the more affordable option from Rimmel. It needs reapplying after about four hours and it’s one of those shades you worry about when eating and drinking.

Although the colour is very similar I do think that Ruby Woo triumphs the budget option. Of course, as usual, if you’re just getting into reds then this is a good one to buy and try before investing but if your after longevity and that security that your lipstick just won’t budge then Ruby Woo is incredible.

They do! I always wonder how companies create their colours… Like I wonder if they look at best sellers from brands like MAC and just copy..

Oh there you go! I prefer the Ruby Woo in this case but I agree that the matte formulations from Rimmel really are good. x

Loving the dupes Sarah, keep them coming :-) I had to go and compare my ruby woo after reading this, and i thought i had Rimel 22, but i have Rimmel 111 instead, and i honestly can’t tell a difference between it and my ruby woo, except the texture.

Thanks Carmen! I’m glad you’re enjoying them :)

The texture and longevity are the main things I notice a difference in but the Rimmel lipsticks are fab x

Thank you! Another fan of your dupe posts, Sarah.

I’m going to hunt this one down at priceline and hopefully get two – one for work and one for home.

Perfect dupe and MAC lipsticks are super expensive but not so bad compared to the NARS ones which I also love <3 I think the price is worth it if you don't buy much but if your wanting a collection it can add up pretty quickly x

Definitely agree. I only have a very select amount and I wear almost all of them very regularly. I have a few regret purchases but that’s my own fault :P x
