Mac lipsticks are an investment no matter how you look at it – they’re expensive! Some can be easily duplicated and Mac Speak Louder is one of them… Here’s a look at a much more flattering shade available at the pharmacy.
Mac Speak Louder is a shade I hadn’t heard very much about and during a impulse US MAC order forever ago I purchased. The Cremesheen lipstick is described as a ‘clean poppy blue pink’ but I would describe it as a medium pink with very subtle blue undertones. As with all Cremesheen formulas this has a very lovely opaque colour with a glossy finish. I do like this shade in theory and I bought it thinking it would be a shade I could wear on an everyday basis but it’s my least worn MAC lipstick. I don’t know if it’s the coolness but something about it just doesn’t look right on me.
My budget alternative is from the Kate Moss Lasting Finish in 05. This is still a medium pink shade but it pulls a little warmer and mauvey. I much prefer this over the MAC shade and if you’re a medium/light skin tone I would recommend it over Speak Louder. The warmth of the lipstick offers a bit more of a brightness to the face. The formulation is just as good, creamy and opaque, as the MAC so I think it’s a much better purchase.
For me, the MAC Cremesheens are one of the formulations I really try to find a budget option for. Shade wise, I just don’t think that Speak Louder hit the spot for me so it’s a shade I kind of regret purchasing. Perhaps if your slightly darker in skin tone it would work better for you!
