YOUR BEST FRIENDS AS A BLOGGER

Whether you’re completely new to blogging or having been blogging for six year it’s fun snooping around other people’s desks! These bits are my absolute lifesavers when it comes to blogging.

A diary and/planner
This is my 2015 diary (limited edition and all sold out sorry!) which I endeavour to carry around everywhere with me however my friend Kate from over at SBB has created an awesome planner spefically designed and tailored towards bloggers. It’s currently on preorder but I’ve had a sneak peek at all 60 pages and it’s going to change my world in 2015 so I highly recommend preordering it here. Blogging is not stressful if you’re organised!

Make up remover wipes
If you’re primarily a beauty blogger then you’re going to do alot of swatching so these are handy to have around at all times. Although you may not include swatches in alot of posts you will swatch when preparing for features so even if you think you won’t need them… YOU WILL!

Magazines
I love magazines and I always have (ask my mum I had a collection so big she told me it was a fire hazard). If you’re on a tight budget they make an awesome prop for photos. You can lay products on them or just have them to the side. It makes any image look a lot less boring.

Remote
The ultimate must-have if you’re going to be taking alot of selfies wearing make up or clothing. These are super cheap too! I think I paid $10 for mine off ebay and it’s so worth it. A tripod is also super handy as well, especially if you have super shaky hands like me.

Bluetack
Back when I started I used to spend ages setting up photos and trying to stop things rolling around everywhere until I read somewhere that someone was using blue tack to keep products in place - genius! It’ll save you time and allow you to create really amazing photos!

What are some of your blogging besties?

Oh my god! The blueback idea is amazing! I always have trouble with lipsticks rolling around. Must try it out soon! Thanks for the idea :) xx Great post!

Usually I’m too lazy to bust out the blu-tack, but it’s a lifesaver for some of those round products!

Can’t live without a planner/agenda. I usually write everything down on my phone or computer. But recently I have been enjoying writing ideas down on my diary, inspirations just flows nicely :)

I’d love to see a post on the magazines. I use coloured paper, AH catalogs and lots of glitter cardboard. Love the bluetack, I’ve always used that too. :)

What would you like to know about the magazine lovely?

      • https://curiousxcharlie.blogspot.com Curious Charlie

A run through of how to use a magazine as a background… oh just re-read your post and realized it’s a prop and not background :P Magazines are glossy hence was wondering how you’d use it as a bg and not get the glare.

Oh that makes sense! My tip would be not to have a light shining to close or directly at the page. I try to have my soft boxes positioned a fair distance away and then use appropriate IOS settings to get the brightness. That way you don’t get glare but still get a bright photo :) xo

I can’t believe I never thought of bluetack!

I use magazines a lot to inject some colour into my backgrounds rather than just plain white or grey! Blutak is an amazing thing to have laying around as well.

With beauty products so often being cylindrical shapes that roll around constantly I discovered early on the importance of Bluetak!

Ooo lucky you! I didn’t but so glad to have found it ;P

Huzzah for makeup wipes and blutack! For some strange reason, I always lose my blutack after taking photos… and then days later I find it still stuck to the back of my foundation or something xD Oh and I hope you don’t mind me pointing out, but you’ve spelt diary as dairy :) I did the exact same thing the other day when my friends and I were playing pictionary (the word was dairy, and I started drawing a notebook… yeah).

Oh my gosh I’m so glad I’m not the only one who finds blue tack everywhere! Haha oh and thanks for pointing out the spelling error… Goes to show no how matter how much to edit your own work something will always slip through ;P
