MAYBELLINE COLOR DRAMA REVIEW & LIP SWATCHES

Maybelline have just released a killer new lip product to their Color Drama line which is causing quite the stir. The ‘Intense Velvet Lip Pencil’ are very reminiscent of a line by NARs but obviously for a fraction of the price.

The range includes ten shades raining from a dark nude to an intense berry shade. They promise a pigmented punch of colour with a satin finish which is honestly exactly what you get. These apply smoothly, pigmented and are easy to build up for an intense colour or sheered out with your finger for something more subtle.

maybelline-color-show-velvet-matte-lip-pencil-swatches630 Nude Perfection, 140 Minimalist, 420 In Love With Coral, 130 Love My Pink, 150 Fuchsia Desire, 520 Light it Up, 510 Red Essential, 410 Fab Orange, 110 Pink So Chic, 410 Berry Much

The range of the shades available is fantastic however as you can see some shades are very close. ‘Pink So Chic’ and ‘Berry Much’ are so close that it really isn’t necessary that you own both. I’m also not a huge fan of the shade ‘Mimimalist’ as it does have some shimmer running through it but apart from that all the shades are stunning. I also love the fact there is three reds of all different tones so you are bound to find one that really suits you.

As for the wear time with these guys they’re fairly similar to a regular lipstick needing touching up every 3-5 hours depending on how much you’re eating/talking/drinking but they do last well and don’t smear all over your face easily. As with most shades ranging you’ll probably need to pull out a lip liner when it comes to the brighter colours as they can bleed out if not applied carefully.

Overall I’m super impressed with the line and think for $9.95 a piece you can’t really go wrong.

I was really surprised at how affordable these are, but not complaining of course! I bought two and am reaaally enjoying both of them! Nude Perfection is quite 90s, and I’m liking it so far!

I’ve got one of them but I find them a bit too creamy- I might have to try a nude one, as it won’t really matter if it fades or smudges a bit … loved the post, and your photography is gorgeous!
