Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Sun Blaze, Chi Chi Stay On Liner Lady In Red, MAC Ruby Woo, Jefree Star Redrum, Covergirl Colorlicious Gloss in Sweet Strawberry, Maybelline Color Drama in Fab Orange
In the lead up to Christmas I know some of you will be searching for a new outfit (here are some awesome dress options from last week) and a new red lip. Although I don’t usually purchase a new lipstick every year I definitely go through my collection in search for the perfect colour for the day. Here are 6 different options I know you’ll love.
Laura Mercier Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour in Sun Blaze: Spoiler alert this is my choice for this year and if I get time I’m going to do a post on my Christmas make up before my Christmas break. These a new addition to the Laura Mercier range and it’s such an interesting product. You get a really decent pigmentation and colour from the formulation with a tiny bit of shine but they last super well. I guess because it’s in the lipgloss applicator I assumed it’d be an overly glossy, sheer formulation but it’s not. The only negative is the packaging allows so much product to come out so it can be a little messy.
Chi Chi Stay On Liner Lady In Red: I feel like I don’t talk about lipliners enough but these Chi Chi ones are easily some of the best on the market. They’re retractable (WIN), creamy enough to apply without pulling the lips but they are firm enough that they don’t slip around making it super easy to get a really crisp line. This red is just a true red with a hint of warmth so it looks great under most red lipsticks.
MAC Ruby Woo: I won’t bang on about this one. A matte true red with AMAZING staying power so it’ll stay on the lips right the way through stuffing your face with Christmas food. Read more about it in my Top 4 Mac Lipsticks and A Dupe for Mac Ruby Woo. It’s a pain to get on but so worth the colour and longevity.
Jeffree Star Redrum: this is probably my newest lip colour in this post and I’ve only wore it twice BUT I truly believe it’s an amazing deep red that would look amazing on Christmas day. I wanted to include an option that was a little deeper seeing that some of you are based in the Northern hemisphere and are right way into winter now. This is such a gorgeous deep shade and it stays super well on the lips. For more swatches on the Jeffree Star range check out this post.
Covergirl Colorlicious Gloss in Sweet Strawberry: some of you will only want a wash of colour and an affordable option is this one from Covergirl. If you haven’t tried the Covergirl glosses I would really recommend them because they’re super comfy without that horrible tacking feeling on the lips. This one does have a little more sparkle to it but on the lips it just makes them look juicy and gorgeous!
Maybelline Color Drama in Fab Orange: if you’re a fan of orange lips and you want something a little more pigmented but still really festive I think this is the perfect option because it still have a good amount of red tones in it. Full swatches and shade details in this post here!

It’s so lovely isn’t it?! Laura Mercier is easily one of my favourite brands you must!
You can never go past Ruby Woo, can you? It’s the perfect bright red. I also really, really like those Maybelle Colour Drama pencils, they’re such a good formula and have three great red shades that I love. I also have one of the Chi Chi lip liners (probably the same shade) and they are one of the best on the market at that price point!
