If you follow us on Instagram or have added ‘morethanadored’ on Snapchat (a few shameless plugs out of the way) then you probably would’ve seen the generous packaged from Maybelline that was delivered last week. I was pretty overwhelmed so took to social media to see what kind of posts you would like to see – a lot of you requested lip swatches so here we are. I’ve been wearing a few of the shades the past week so I’ll give you the lowdown on my faves too!
Want to see another Maybelline lip swatch post? We’ve also reviewed the whole range of Maybelline Color Drama Lip Pencils here.
The collection promises bold pigmented lip colours that take ‘pastels to a new bright’. They’re designed to be really creamy with honey nectar so comfortable to wear throughout the day. If it’s anything like the other newer lip releases from Maybelline these are going to be a huge hit.
700 Barely Bloomed, 745 Peach Poppy, 710 Petal Pink, 720 Power Peony, 725 Lilac Flush, 715 Hibiscus Pop, 705 Blushing Bud, 740 Coral Burst, 735 Rose Rush, 730 Orchid Ecstasy
As you can see from the swatches there are some really pastel colours and then some fun brights in there all residing from the peach, pink, coral and mauve families so really quite wearable. The only shades I’m not a huge fan of is the lightest peach ‘Barely Bloomed’ and the blue based pink ‘Petal Pink’ – both are a little too light and just don’t suit me at all. The mid-tone hues like ‘Power Peony’, ‘Hibiscus Pop’ and ‘Blushing Bud’ have been on rotation for me over the past week. What really stands out about the formulation is the creamy, easy to apply and comfortable wear throughout the day. They’re the perfect for when you want a little something but don’t want to have to keep checking yourself for touch ups. As for the brighter colours like ‘Rose Rush’ and ‘Orchid Ecstasy’ there is no doubt they are gorgeous colours but if I’m going to go bold I’d prefer some matte. They are still beautiful blotted down as a bit more a stain rather then applied heavily.
Overall the collection is gorgeous and another great edition to the Maybelline line up just, as with all collections, there are some shades the suit me better than others. The wear of these is generally about 3 hours before you need to top up but the way they wear is really fantastic – they seem to just lose the shine then fade leaving a hint of colour to the lips. I would definitely recommend the mid-tone hues and the brighter shades if you don’t mind a glossy finish or blotting the colour down for a more stained look.
