When you go to a MAC counter things can be a little overwhelming sometimes. There is so much choice and I know for me I didn’t even know where to start! Hopefully this will help you if you’re on the hunt for shadows to fill your palette or are just starting out with MAC shadows.

Bronze the swatch on the paper really doesn’t do it much justice because this has some serious sheen. Think of a dark bronze with a warm golden sheen - it’s beautiful. I find it’s pretty versatile, you can wear it in the crease or built up on the eye for a darker smoky eye. It’s not a must-have because I don’t wear this everyday but if you’re after a special shadow that looks amazing on the eye this is perfect.
Brown Down is one I don’t hear many people talk about but it’s such a staple for me. A warm matte brown that is awesome for deepening up the crease and creating a smokey eye. I usually wear a tiny bit of this day-to-day and find it’s not too much. If you’re looking for a good quality matte shade this is a fab option.
Patina is an interesting shade that looks gorgeous on my hazel eyes. Is it a little bit sheer but is described as a natural brown with a golden sheen… I can’t decide whether it’s more gold or brown - either way it’s an unique shade that looks gorgeous on green/hazel eyes. It’s that perfect grab and go shade because you can sheer it right out for just a wash of colour or you can apply it a bit heavier and blend it up into the crease which creates the illusion you’re wearing more than one eyeshadow. Weird but true.
Amber Lights has to be the highlight of my half-finished MAC palette because it’s literally amazing. It’s a peachy brown with shimmer meaning it’s a warm copper with a metallic finish and oh my gosh it’s AMAZING! It’s super intense on the eye and it’s the type of shade that I reach for when I want to wear a dramatic eye. The texture, for a metallic, is super smooth which is another plus.
Wedge is probably the most boring out for all these shadows but it’s a super handy shade. A warm-toned medium brown with a matte finish that can be used for blending through the crease or even in your eyeshadows (although this one is a little warmer then Omega another popular shade for filling in your eyebrows). I just find it’s super easy to blend this through the crease and team it with any of my other eyeshadows in my palette.
What are your favourite eyeshadows from MAC? I still have half my palette to fill so give me suggestions!
