3 AFFORDABLE BRONZERS TO TRY

Quality bronzers are very hard to come at a reasonable price. They can throw orange or be super shimmery. I’ve tried my fair share of bad bronzers but here are three super affordable but fantastic quality products you can find at your local pharmacy.

Physicians Formula Bronze Booster Glowing-Boosting Season-To-Season Bronzer
Once you get past the ridiculous overspray of shimmer that Physicians Formula continue to do on all their cheek products this bronzer is amazing. The four different shades make it very easy to customise the colour you apply making it perfect for any super pale peeps like me. The tone isn’t too warm so you won’t be left looking muddy or orange. Although it’s not matte the shimmer throughout is virtually undetectable so it can be used for both contouring and bronzing. A fantastic all-rounded.

Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzing Powder
Say hello to my very first bronzer I ever owned (not this particular one, don’t fret!). This won’t suit super pale gals as it’s a warmer tone, unless you can use a very light hand. For medium skin tones this is perfect for warming up the skin everyday. It does have a slight shimmer to it so I wouldn’t recommend contouring with it. The packaging could be improved too!

L’oreal Glam Bronze in 101 Blonde Harmony
A newer release from L’oreal has seen the Glam Bronzer Duo become one of the most sought after bronzers. I particularly love this one because it can be used for both bronzing up the complexion and contouring plus you get that highlighter included. Although the highlighter isn’t any Mary-Lou Manzier it does compliment the bronzer quite well. It can take some work to blend in, especially if contouring, but the end result makes it all worth it.

I hate bronzers that are too shimmery. Thank you for the recommendations, will definitely look into some of these x

No worries Lily! I hope you find some that work for you xo

I like the sound of the Physicians Formula bronzer, sounds like it would be a perfect summertime bronze. I like how you can customise the shade as well, definitely an advantage for us fair skinned gals! x

That’s probably my ultimate fave from the three especially when I’m not fake tanning :) thanks for sharing too Ange! xo

  • Ebony J

I love the maybelline bronzer (:

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

Yay! So glad you enjoy that one xo

The PF bronzer looks pretty cool - I love the 4 tones. They should really stop with the overspray though! The L’oreal one looks really great too - I’ve seen it around but haven’t got to swatching it yet!

The overspray is a killer! They do it to ALL their face products… I just don’t get it!

  • Olivia Palermo

My favourite bronzer of all time is the Body Shop Honey Bronze. I’ve always steered clear of shimmery bronzers, but maybe this year is the year to give them another go! Lovely recommendations Sarah!

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

So many people rave about that one but I’m yet to pick it up. I’m almost finished Nars Laguna so I’m thinking when I do I’ll purchase TBS one instead :) xo

  • http://polishpatterns.blogspot.com.au/ Loz

My favourite cheapy brand bronzer is the Designer Brands Mineral Bronzer. I have it in medium and love the colour, there’s no shimmer, it’s completely matte and it comes in one of those weird grater-like packaging, so awesome for travel!

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

Ooooo!!! Definitely need to hunt that one down. Thanks for the recommendation Loz xo

I really want to try the physicians formula one now! However all these look like great affordable options!

The PF is probably my fave from the list but they’re all great :) xo

I was looking at getting a bronzer the other day when I was at Chemist Warehouse, but most of what they had seemed too orange for my liking. I use the MAC Bronzing Powder in “Medium”, and I quite like that, so I think I’ll have to bring it with me next time to swatch side-by-side!

Definitely. The Physicians Formula is probably the one that is the least orange from these three.

I have the normal Physicians Formula bronze booster but would love to try the season to season one. Would love to customise my own shade :) x

It’s so handy! Especially if you get super pale over summer.. (like me) xo

      • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

        over winter I mean xD

  • Katie Jane Mabey

I’m definitely going to try the L’oreal Bronzer after my January shopping ban has finished! I’m addicted to Hoola by Benefit and Casino by Nars but I’ve never experimented with drugstore bronzers!

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

Woohoo that’s so exciting for you! I need to try Hoola, it’s raved about by so many people xo

  • http://katnesslifeandloves.blogspot.com.au/ Kat Ness

I’m still loving the NYC bronzer in Sunny and also Maybelline Fit Me bronzer if I want a light glow as it’s not very pigmented.
Are you able to do a post on contouring shades to try? I’m loving the one in the NP Ultimate Contour Palette but it’s so pricey and I won’t need the extra blush and highlight shade. I’m also not keen on the Australis kit either because I can’t see myself using the other 5 shades.

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

I’ll definitely add a contouring shade post to the list for this month for you Kat! I know how hard it is to find good contouring shades that are affordable. I didn’t pick up the Australis kit either for that reason. It seems so unnecessary for the everyday person.

I love the idea of customising the shade to your skintone with the Physicians Formula bronzer, shame about the shimmery overspray though! I prefer a more matte bronzer on my fair skin.

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

Once you get through the overspray it’s fab but I hate that they insist on overspraying every single product, ugh!

  • Sandra Gosden

I love the Nude by Nature bronzer, its great.

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

Ooo I haven’t tried that one yet! I’ll have to have a look next time I’m in priceline. xo

  • Melissa

I’m always in struggle town in terms of looking for an affordable bronzer!! I always eye the L’oreal one but never knew if it was worth it or not.. you have changed my mind! ;)

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

It’s great with a light hand! If you go too heavy handed it can become quite orange (I learnt that the hard way lol)

  • Pippi Bartlett

These all seem like such good shades, I think bronzers are way better the lighter they are!

    pippibee.blogspot.co.uk xx

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

Definietly! I find lighter colours much easier to work with xo

  • http://berrixbeauty.blogspot.com/ Sheri

These bronzers look great for pale skin too, they’re not scarily dark at all! The Physicians Formula looks really user-friendly, you can just mix the shades! I still need to perfect my bronzing technique though :P Atm, it’s just “swipe and can’t see it no more”.

    Sheri | Behind The Frames

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

HAHA Sheri! I stuff up my bronzer all the time :P

  • Zoe Newlove

The Physicians Formula bronzer looks stunning!!! I cannot wait for Summer so I actually have more of a tan, feel so pale right now :(

Zoe Newlove | Beauty Blogger & MUA

    • http://www.morethanadored.com/ Sarah

Awww! We’re in summer over here (luckily) so I’m loving bronzed skin. Although I have to admit I’m guilty of applying fake tan in winter too, it makes you feel so good. Xo

  • Jennifer

Bronzers can be scary, and it’s pretty hard to find “the one” that works for you, but these look like great products to try! Thanks for the post xx

      No worries Jen :) xo

The L’Oreal Glam Bronze would be my pick of affordable bronzers. I use the brunette shade in summer when I have a faux glow.
