A huge influx of new mascaras has happened the past month or so in the pharmacy and I couldn’t be happy. I’m a bit of a mascara junkie so trying them all out has been super fun! Here are my thoughts on 4 of the new affordable offerings and which ones I recommend.
1. Australis Fierce Eyes Volumising Mascara
The wand on this bad boy is insanely huge so it can make applying super hard and mess but the formulation is fairly decent. It gives lots of volume and separation to the lashes, exactly what I look for, however it did clump up when I tried to build it up. Another annoying factor is that this smudge like crazy on me not once but every single time time I wore it! Definitely not one I would recommend just due to the smudging but perhaps a good option for building volume and then layering something else on top?….
2. Maxfactor Masterpiece Glamour Extensions 3-in-1 Volumising Mascara
I’m absolutely obsessed with the orginnial version of this mascara and have already repurchased that one so I was keen to see how this performed. It has tiny little fibres throughout that stick to your own lashes creating more length as you apply. It does really work and I had NO fallout when applying (a common problem with fibre mascaras). I don’t need extra length as my eyelashes are fairly long naturally so I will stick to the original formulation however if you do need extra length and want a super black intense look this one would be for you!
3. Covergirl Full Bloom Mascara
This is probably the one I got the most questions about when I snapped it over on snapchat (add @morethanadored for loads of behind the scenes fun!) and I have to say I was a bit skeptical because of the crazy marketing campaign with Katy Perry being the face etc. The brush is a plastic bristle brush that alternates lengths throughout the brush, it’s nothing groundbreaking but I personally do prefer plastic bristled wands over the traditional ones. This gives a fair bit of volume and separation but it doesn’t hold a curl at all. I also found that it can clump up quite quickly because of the super wet formulation however my guess is over the next few weeks that will subside because it’ll start to dry out. Perfect for a natural look and if you don’t have droopy lashes like me!
4. Rimmel Scandaleyes Extreme Mascara
I was not excited about this mascara because in the past me and Rimmel mascaras just haven’t gotten on but this guy is amazing. First of the brush is so unique and easy to use, that slight curve hugs the lashes beautifully making it super easy to get up to the root of the lash. The formulation is heavenly, very black and easy to build up but doesn’t clump at all. It gives lots of intense volume and separation but nothing too Benefit They’re Real Fake Lash kind of thing so it’s totally appropriate for everyday. My only negative is that it didn’t hold a curl all day so I think I’ll look for the waterproof version next time I go to buy!
