Going back to university or school always made me cringe. Maybe it was because I didn’t love my degree or maybe it was because I never knew what to wear. For all you students I thought I’d take away the anxiety of finding an outfit with providing you with some inspiration.  This is such a cute outfit (if I don’t say so myself) that’s both practical and says ‘I’m here to learn’ in a cool way… Obviously!

Brought to you by Nuffnang and Clarks Australia.

Invest in classic accessories and shoes

First things first I want to talk about the shoes. You all know I’m an advocate for good quality shoes so I’m sure you can appreciate my swooning over these ‘Madison’ shoes from Clarks. Clarks are one of the pioneers when it comes to shoes, in particular school shoes, with over 170 years in the business so it’s a brand that you can certainly trust. The Madison are such a classic shape with leather upper, lining and sock plus a nifty memory foam foot-bed which makes my foot feel like it’s on holidays in Bali it’s that comfortable. I love that they add a little edge whilst remaining sophisticated, practical and adding an androgynous look to any outfit – winning! Clarks have put together a little video showcasing some of their fab styles:

In the past I’ve always associated this type of shoes, especially when I was at school, with being uncomfortable. Now I feel a little bummed that I hadn’t tried a Clarks shoes earlier because they are the most comfortable shoes. Clarks have been spotted on the feet of a bunch of my favourite people like Kanye West and Brad Pitt along with strings of magazine covers, album covers, music videos and movies. Isn’t that amazing? It just goes to show that you don’t have to sacrifice being stylish for being practical or comfortable.

I usually carry my Rebecca Minkoff Mini Perry Satchel that is a timeless shape and allows me to carry around everything I need. I love the contrast in texture against the clean cut Madison shoes and the bag. Again a good quality bag is something that will never go astray.

Team the classic pieces with basic items
I decided to team those items with really basic pieces I knew wouldn’t be a hindrance throughout the day. If there is one thing I discovered throughout my time at school or university it’s important to be comfortable and warm. I went with ripped skinny jeans and a striped top because it’s something I feel comfy in but it also has some extra coverage because schools or universities always seem to be freezing inside. Teamed with the Madison shoes it gives an effortless but put together outfit.

Incorporate a brighter lip
The last step is to add a bright red lip! Here I’m wearing MAC Ruby Woo but your favourite red lip will make you feel you didn’t roll out of bed with 5 minutes to spare and it’ll show you put some effort in to come to class. It’s a win-win!

There you have it – easy ways to look put together but also comfortable for your first day back at school or university. The main thing to remember is that you don’t have to sacrifice dressing fashionable for comfort. The Madison shoes are like walking on clouds, the red lip makes you look and feel amazing plus the simplicity of the clothing items are effortless chic.

Love this outfit on you Sarah, those ripped jeans really look great on you.

I wish I was brave enough to rock a bold lip back when I was at uni. Everyone in my degree dressed pretty sloppy so I already felt like I stood out enough wearing my coats and heeled boots every day. If I were to go back though I’d probably just say screw it and look as dressy as I wanted.

I know how funny – I wasn’t sure about working together but once I got them and started to wear them I was like damn these are pretty damn cool!

I’ve never tried Clarks shoes but maybe I need to. I’m not too keen to go back to Uni either but at least it is my last semester and I have all independent study. After 5 years, I’m pretty sick of it. I love my Lauren Ralph Lauren Newbury Shopper as my staple uni bag because it fits my Macbook while still looking super stylish. Great post :)
