I hadn’t wore an all white outfit before this skirt came into my life. There is something really inspiring about some pieces that make me want to try something new. That is exactly what happened with this skirt.

This skirt is the AYA Midi Skirt from Solito Clothing a brand I’ve fallen in love with over the past few seasons. It’s a cotton skirt with this broderie anglaise detail and it is double lined so it isn’t see through (although nude underwear is always suggested with white bottoms). As you guys know I’m not a hugely girly-girl like I wear dresses and colour but I’m not a soft, girly girl that embraces pastels or flowy florals. This skirt did kind of freak me out. Would I look like a marshmallow? Would I have to wear something super soft with it? The answer is no to both of those things.

Like when you’re wearing all black mixing up the textures make a huge difference and the same principle applies when you are wearing all white. In this outfit I have the broderie anglaise then the plain cotton to play off each other so the skirt detail is most prominent. It’s a subtle difference but I think it really makes the whole look that little more wearable for everyday.

Sounds strange but using your imagination imagine that I am wearing a pair of black denim shorts. The rest of the styling is really exactly what I would wear on the daily so try not to let a new piece freak you out or stray from the other styling elements that make you feel like YOU. It’s all about incorporating that new piece into your existing wardrobe. How I always see it is if you think ‘oh I’d have to buy that and that to go with this’ you probably shouldn’t buy it OR be mindful of how those individual pieces will slot into your wardrobe at home.

Unlike with all black I feel like pops of colour really freshen up an all white outfit. It’s although it elevates the look quite quickly and I can’t put my finger on why. Maybe because the colours stand out more against the white? Regardless I love the colours of this Frankie & Co tee and my Shanghai Suzy Lipstick! It adds a little something extra that I really appreciate!

Firstly, love the outfit! Secondly, I sort of have done the white-on-white thing before – I’ve paired a porcelain, slightly off white dress with white wedges (paired with a bright lip) & it worked. I do have a slight fear of white things as I ruin them a lot (I think I’ve gone through about 5 white tank tops in the last couple of years because I ignore the washing instructions & either soak or bleach them anyway), but it’s a colour I enjoy wearing despite being pale AF.

I mean…I wouldn’t wear that outfit whilst looking after a toddler thats for sure :P

I love when people pair something girly with something with a little more edge. It somehow just works!

I never wear white on white, but these are great tips! Adding the right colours could really make (or break) the outfit for me. That is a gorgeous skirt, btw!
    Have a lovely week. <3
