TIPS FOR STYLING A SLIP DRESS SO YOU DON’T LOOK LIKE YOU STOLE GRANNIES NIGHTIE

It’s one of those items that’s a big thing at the moment but us every gals can feel a little spooked: the slip dress. A fancy way of saying a chic granny nightie that you wear out in real life. Crazy huh?

LAYER
I’m not a fan of super delicate neckline on me and sometimes it can look a little nightie-like if you just wear a slip…. I mean if you were actually wearing a nightie you would only wear one layer right? So why not add a little somethin’ something underneath? I’m a big lover of graphic tees so obvs I’ve popped on a tee underneath and the text peeping through helps break up the look. You could even layer a knit over the top. Play around with it and you’ll find and you’ll eventually find a combo that you love.

TEXTURE + PRINT
Obviously, this particular number is black and fairly simple but a great way to ensure you’re not channelling 80-year-old vibes is by looking for something that has a little texture or even a print. It’ll add interest to the look and it’ll make it look more like a dress than a slip. If you’re totally cool with the plain black vibes consider the textures and prints you are using when you are layering because that will really transform the look. I love the look of leather and silky things together and a good cotton tee will add a casual vibe to any outfit.

FOOTWEAR
My look is pretty damn casual but your footwear makes or breaks a look. Consider where you’ll be wearing it. If it’s just a casual, errryday outfit then go for something a little interesting. I teamed it back with these epic as trainers that equally ugly as they as cool as fuck. It adds another element of interest and detracts from the heaviness of the longer-line slip. The red lip is another great trick for finishing off a look and taking it to the next level.
