As part of the Bobbi Brown ‘Glow Collection’ that has launched TODAY (yay) there is a selection of six long-swear sparkles gels. In the collection you’ll also find lip tint and two gorgeous highlighters. But lets talk about these gels…

Recently I’ve spoken a little bit about how I haven’t really tried too many Bobbi Brown products apart from their normal powder products. After trying the new Eye Opening Mascara I was keen to see how these Long-Wear Gel Sparkles faired because I really loved that mascara for everyday. These gels are designed to be super long-lasting, we’re talking 12 hours, without smudging, streaking or creasing. That’s a claim I really didn’t know if Bobbi Brown could live up too because I have some insanely oily eyelids. Each gel is shimmery and is meant to be buildable so you can either wear them as a light wash or as a more dramatic pigmented feature on the eye.

The colours I have are Opal, Pink Oyster and Brown Metal and the first one I tried is Opal. It’s a very light cream, almost transparent with a gorgeous peach and gold reflect. It’s stunning! I haven’t worn the other two yet but swatched the colours are beautiful. I primed my eyelids because these eyelids are way to oily for even a long-wear product to last all day. The packaging on these makes it almost impossible to fit your finger into the pot if you have any sort of a nail which was a major flaw for me. I almost always have longer nails and not being able to warm up the product with my finger without getting it under my nails is super annoying. Packaging aside the product is exactly what it says on the tin, the formulation is on the sheer side so you can customise the amount of sheen you apply on the eye. Don’t get that confused with pigmentation though – each shade packs great even pigmentation.

In terms of longevity I found the Opal shade lasted well on my eyes but more towards the tear duct I did experience creasing. That was probably my own fault for applying it a little heavy in that area and it is a super common problem I have with the creases in my eyes so I don’t hold it against the product. Overall I’m impressed! My only compliant is the silly packaging that doesn’t allow me to use my finger as that is my preffered method of applying cream shadows.

The first looks a little too sheer for my taste but Pink Oyster and Brown Metal look great! :)

I love the look of these but I tend to steer clear of anything with sparkle because on my hooded eyes, sometimes anything with shimmer/glitter can look a little odd. Sounds like these would be great if they improved the packaging though, so annoying that you can’t fit your finger in the pot properly!

Yeah it’s definitely a flaw for the product. Bobbi Brown were kind enough to reach other and send over one of their cream shadow brushes which does help however I don’t think you should have to buy another product to just use it.. You know?
