Possibly the biggest aspect that changes in our routines from season to season is our base products. My super mattifying, heavy duty powders are put away and now I’m opting for things that are lighter giving my skin a healthier not-so-dry appearance.

My skin turns into a bit of a mess in the winter and I know it’s the same for so many people. There are dry patches everywhere, dehydration lines and don’t get me started on how oily I can get from siting in a heated office from 9-5… It can be so slick. That is where my first hero product of the moment comes in. I wasn’t a huge fan of the original Benefit Porefessional because it can be a pain to work with in terms of teaming with other products and the application. Call me lazy but I find that annoying when I’m rushing in the morning. They’ve recently the Matte Rescue* which is a lightweight gel that really helps absorb any oils and control that shine throughout the day. Apart from the obvious difference in consistency to the original I’m not sure what the other differences are but I LOVE this version. I apply it as a primer to my T-zone and I find it really helps my oils throughout the day. I have been using it everyday without any issues with balling on the skin so it is a huge tick from me.

Taking a step back and the moisturiser I’ve been using every morning is the Multi-Active Day Cream Gel from Clarins*. It’s so hard to find a moisturiser for combination skin that doesn’t overload the skin and make you more oily but still gives you a really great whack of hydration. I’m almost finished this tube and I can safely say it’s a dream. A gel base moisturiser is my favourite because it seems to work really well at sinking in quickly but providing oodles of hydration. The sole reason I wouldn’t repurchase is the fact it’s in a tub…. You guys all know how I feel about things in tubs. Asides from that fact it’s an incredible moisturiser and I’m in love.

When I spotted Zoe Foster-Blake talking about the Bobbi Brown Skin Nourishing Glow Foundation late last year my ears were instantly pricked up (typing this reminds me I still need to pick up her book!).  It took me a little while to purchase because it is eye-watering expensive but I’m so glad I did. It’s essentially a really light-weight hybrid of a foundation and moisturiser. It gives you a light coverage that is so natural and the finish is so smooth and radiant. The biggest appeal for me at the moment is that it’s the only foundation I have that doesn’t cling for dear life onto dry patches! It’s not designed for oily-combo skin but I find if I powder it with the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder then it seems to wear well throughout the day. I’m going to do a full review on it this month so keep an eye out for that soon!

How can I have missed the Bobbi Brown foundation! I didn’t know she made a type like that. I used to love her Skin foundation so I must give this one a look!

I gotta say I love the look and layout of your blog, very chic, clear and beautiful. A joy to read – I only wish the bulk of the text was a little bit larger as the color isn’t all black. Have a lovely day!
