STEPPING OUTSIDE MY COMFORT ZONE WITH A FLORAL BLOUSE

If you follow me on Twitter, which you should because I love tweeting and chatting with you guys, I’ve spoken about how I really struggle to find nice tops. Those tops that aren’t t-shirts but also aren’t super crazy formal. The type of thing I can wear everyday with jeans and feel that tiny bit more put together.

I rock at shopping for pants. And dresses. And shoes. But that kinda spesh tops. Nope.

As I’ve spoken about before I tend to do all my shopping at the start of the season (yes at full price!) because I just want it out of the way. I’m now coming to the end of my month or so of shopping the gaps in my wardrobe and I’ve now got a bit of a rule – if it isn’t a top that fits this HUGE gap in my wardrobe I’m not allowed to buy it. The only exception is a pair of light wash boyfriend jeans and a pair of casual yet dressy shoes that are comfy for everyday – both because they are items on my list that I still haven’t found ‘the one’. Everything else is a no go.

I stumbled across this floral blouse on Instagram @sundaystyler and was drawn to the floral on the dark background. I loved the way the neckline is a little bit unique and it has a ruffle on the sleeves that isn’t OTT. It is girly without screaming I LOVE PINK AND RAINBOWS. You know what I mean?

When it arrived I wasn’t sure but when Isaac saw it on he gave it the tick of approval. I have to say it is a little more low cut for the usual everyday prude (aka ME) but next time I wear it I’ll sport a black bralette and I know I’ll feel better. Overall it is exactly what I was looking for and I do really love it. It is going to look super cute tucked into skirts and boyfriends jeans as well (when I find a pair).

You guys may have also noted the new navy blue fedora I’m wearing. It’s from Ace of Something and I like it because the brim is a little bit smaller than my other ones so it’s that little bit less dramatic and more wearable. It also comes in at a way cheaper price so it’s worth checking out if you’re in the market for a wintery fedora.

What I’m wearing: Frieda Blouse | Nobody Denim Cult Skinny Jeans  | Barton Hat in Midnight (gifted) | Mollini Cutout Boots (not current) | Elroy Eyewear Harper Sunglasses

Do you struggle shopping for tops? Or is it something else for you?

I fail at shopping for the same type of tops! It’s all tshirts, tanks and work tops. I love that shirt on you, it’s gorgeous :) x

    • Thanks Kate! I’ve been super impressed with it and glad I bought it… It’s so bloody hard finding things I like because I’ve not overly girly.

  • yep, I really struggle with buying nice tops too. Something for a casual party or a dinner or something when its too cold to wear a dress. It’s SO hard. I’m really loving florals right now & I love this top! It looks great on you!

    • Thanks Mel! It is a real struggle isn’t it?! I can imagine this would look great on you as well x

  • Always good to have those rules about things you’ve got enough of already. I’ve definitely got enough dresses and casual/weekend tops, but need work clothes, especially blouses/tops I can wear to work (not that I have a job yet, lol) so I’m putting a similar kind of ban on myself, unless it fits in a gap in my wardrobe then I’m not allowed to buy it!

    • It’s so helpful isn’t it? I think because I also work in retail I’m super aware of the seasons. Winter is pretty much over now (even though it’s just beginning IRL) so I try not to overbuy each season. All my friends think I have a bursting wardrobe and although I have alot of items there are no doubles or crazy things that don’t fit or belong in my wardrobe.

  • This is such a gorgeous top Sarah! I don’t blame you for being pulled towards it as the different necklines has been something I’ve loved lately too. It’s always nice to find clothes that give you much more versatility than formal vs lazy Sunday’s :) And I think you definitely found one! xo
