The Perfect Pair of Jeans

Everyone has gone on the hunt for jeans at some stage, they are a staple wardrobe item however it takes a whole lot of energy, effort and maybe a coffee or two, to find a good pair. Here at MTA we have done all the (leg) work for you to help you find the perfect fit.

1. Shop for your body type: Whether you’re an apple shape, a pear shape or an hourglass shape all those fancy fruit and objects can help you find jeans suited to your body type. As an example when searching for jeans myself, I am pear shaped and I would look for jeans that elongate my legs and balance nicely near the middle of my waist as us pear shaped girls carry more weight in our lower half. Be sure to do some research about what body type you are to help you find jeans that will really flatter you and your lovely figure.

2.Try it on: Under the weird kind of fluorescent lighting in most shopping centres, clothing can look a lot nicer on the hanger or the mannequin than they do on a body, so be sure to try as many different options as you can to really see how they feel and fit. There is no point buying a pair of jeans only to later realise you can’t even sit down in them! For those of you who prefer to try things on at home in the comfort of your room with your own closet full of options be sure to keep those receipts just in case!

3.Don’t be afraid to splurge: Jeans are one of those items that sometimes are worth splurging on as more often than not, you get exactly what you pay for. So many clothing shops often have offers on jeans that are a bit more pricey like 2 for one and you get better quality and long lasting jeans for a cheaper price.

4. Checkout online: Shopping for jeans online can still be as beneficial as there are so many styles to choose from with a price tag that won’t break the bank. There are so many great websites to look at for jeans online pretty much every major clothing brand has their own spin on the classic wardrobe staple.

5. Colour and Cut: It is always incredibly handy to know what colour and cut you like and what suits the rest of your wardrobe. I am forever a dark denim lover, I just adore them. Take some time to find your go-to colour and cut. Whether its bootleg or highwaisted, there are so many options to choose from!

6. Bring a friend: They always say it is a good idea to bring a friend or your mum along when buying clothes as it gives you a second opinion if you’re unsure plus they will be honest and tell you how great you really look.

At the end of the day a perfect pair of jeans are the ones that make you feel incredible no matter what price, style or size they are. Here are some of our favourites…

Great post Bethany :) I always find a pair of jeans I love and wear them to death! I bought a pair of Levis from my local thrift shop and wore them all through high school. Then I bought a pair from I don’t even remember where and I’ve worn them consistently since 2006. Good jeans are hard to come by!

Thankyou! Yes buying jeans at the thrift shop is also another great one! When you find a great pair for so much cheaper than it would originally be it is one of the greatest things ever!

I also find that sometimes you can find jeans cheaper online than in store, so if you are trying to save some pennies its worth trying on in store and shopping around online.

I love dark denim too. I always make sure to take a few pairs with me to the fitting rooms so I can try them out and see which ones fit me best, but sometimes I just buy leggings as they are much easier to buy haha.

Great advice! i do believe paying a little more on jeans as they last over a few seasons. My advice is when you try on jeans is that the pockets should be on your bottom and not lower down as it’s not very flattering for anyone.
