Beauty blogging can be a tough gig especially when you run out of inspiration or ideas. Here are 20 ideas for beauty posts that are timeless so they’re perfect if you want to get ahead and try to stockpile some posts.
1. Top X Under X
Sounds vague but this is my personal favourite type of post to have stockpiled for a rainy day. My ‘Top 5 under $15’ also is one of my more popular series on MTA - just because it’s a stockpiled post doesn’t mean it can’t rock.
2. Compare a pair
Take two similar products and compare them with each other. Share the pro’s and con’s with your readers then pick a favourite.
3. Find a dupe
Dupe posts are super popular especially with popular make up products. My ‘A Dupe for Mac Ruby Woo‘ is one of my most viewed posts of all time. Search around your collection of makeup/skincare/haircare/bodycare products - can you find anything that’s pretty similar?
4. How I overcame (acne/frizzy hair/brittle nails)
Share your personal story and photos on how you improved or overcame something to do with beauty. Chances are there will be a bunch of readers who can relate and find your experience helpful!
5. Five beauty hacks you actually use
There are so many beauty hacks out there but many that just sound cool despite nobody actually doing them! Think about your everyday routines and whether there are some useful tricks you do that could help a sister out.
6. Your top 10 X
Goodness this one if never-ending! You could do top 10 nail polish shades/formulations/skincare products/lip treatments/blushes the options are ENDLESS and super easy to write up in bulk.
7. 10 reasons to try X
A fun twist on a normal review and these are some of my favourite posts to write. This is an example of one I did last year and it’s one of my favourite posts I’ve ever written :)
8. 5 beauty blogs/instagram account to follow
Chances are if your a beauty blogger you follow a bunch of awesome beauty accounts on Bloglovin’ or Instagram so why not round up a few gems and share them with your readers?
9. A make up wishlist
These are super fun to write because it’s like you’re shopping but you’re not actually buying anything. Round up some products you’re lusting after and keep it on file. Maybe make it editable so you can add more before scheduling :P
10. Flashback to your teen years (with pics of course!) and share your hair/brow/make up/teeth journey
These are my favourite posts to read, I haven’t braved this type of post yet, it’s fun to see what everyone looked like and hear how they changed over the years.
11. A product review
Sounds simple but I bet there is a handful of products that you’ve had in your stash that you’ve been meaning to post about for a while. Why not take bulk pictures and write up a little review to save for a rainy day!
12. Tour your vanity/bathroom/shower
If your bathroom is small or you have a unique storage situation happening snap some pictures and share!!! It may help someone else with a similar set up.
13. Recreate a celebrity look
Love Blake Lively? Me too. Take your fave celeb and recreate a look. It may be time consuming but sometimes it’s nice to see a look come to life using products accessible to everyone.
14. Skincare products for a skin type
If you’re a dry skin gal and have some awesome hydrating products share your faves with your readers. Maybe even get in guest bloggers with different skin types to share their top 5 as well!
15. Chat about ingredients
Some people really dig Lactic Acid and some people don’t even know what that is. Share your experience with a particular ingredient why you love it/hate it and don’t forget to explain what it is for us newbs
16. DIY beauty
Whipping up a Sunday skin treat? Snap some pictures and share the recipe with your readers. Everyone loves a good DIY!
17. Share your fragrance loves over the years
I’m guilty of still buying a bottle of the same perfume I wore when I was 15. Take us back to your first fragrance experience, what you wore then and what you wear now.
18. Make up you always have with you
I bet there are a bunch of products you can’t leave the house with right? Spill the contents of your bag and chat about it!
19. 5 high-end products worth the money
OR you could even break that down again and chat about 5 high-end cleansers/blushes/hair styling products. Another endless one but people love hearing about high-end products that are worth the money.
20. Beauty brand chat
Have some brands you love so much you could burst? Chat about the brand why you love them, what products rock and which ones don’t.
