Smart casual can be scary but it really doesn’t have to be. You can look fab without losing your own personal style so today I thought I’d you through how to nail smart casual every time.

I think what’s important to remember about this dress code is that you’re not meant to look perfectly done up – just slightly done up. A staple for me is my Elly M Leather Look Jeans because they’re something a little bit more than a denim but nothing too crazy like a dress pant. These particular ones are a great cut and super comfortable. You could do a chunky heel however given it’s a little cooler now a heeled boot is a great option for keeping your toes nice and warm.

What I’ve always found hard is what to wear on top and it’s still a bit of trial and error of me. Necklines are an important aspect to consider when it comes to smart casual and given my larger chest I prefer to opt for things with a high neck as I said it as a bit more dressy. Can you believe I’m wearing a cropped top? I can’t but I love the way is falls on the body especially teamed with the jeans and vest. They are both also Elly M and the cuts are just super flattering. Vests are another awesome cut to have a peep at if smart casual is your dress code at work. They’re a great layering piece and really add something to an otherwise pretty plan and simple outfit.

These are fab tips! I’ve always found “smart casual” so baffling. What IS it? Although I like how you summed it up in the beginning – looking sightly done up, but not perfect. Nice. I’m def going to keep these tips in mind for my next “smart casual” dress code event. Sleek pants/top and neckline, chunky heel. Awesome.
    Lovely outfit!

I love your jeans! I want some that look like yours. I love the smart casual look which is what I normally wear for work. It’s not practical for me to wear an office look and would like to be more done up than casual.
