I don’t go out.
Well I do but rarely.
Today I wanted to chat about how to survive a girls night out when you’re a bit of a granny like me… Because chances are if you’re reading this on a Friday night you and I are pretty damn similar.
Drink tonnes of water the day before
Like tonnes. It’ll help with recovery (if you’re drinking) and keep you feeling fresh.
Choose something with sleeves
It’s going into winter here so wearing small cami tops is now a thing of the past. Don’t be over ambitious by choosing something that is super skimpy – just where the darn long sleeve top! I absolutely love this Maeve Off The Shoulder Top in Rust because it’s still dressy but have long sleeves. If my arms are warm, I’m warm – win.
Find a pair of shoes you love to wear
I know you guys are probably sick to death of me talking about my stupid Senso Riley’s but they’ve been the best pair of shoes I’ve ever bought. I can dance all night in them without any worry at all and they’ve really lasted the test of time. Find a pair of shoes whether it be boots, flats or heels that just mould to your feet and make you feel great. That way you won’t be the sad sack complaining about your feet hurting.
Don’t underestimate the power of eating beforehand
Even if you’re not drinking if you’re a granny like me you’ll just get hungry. I do drink and I find if I don’t eat something beforehand I peak then crash super early. Even if it’s just a snack trust me, your belly, you and all your mates will thank you because you won’t be a hangry bitch.
Sneak some waters in
Go to the bar and smash a glass of water when you can. It’ll get your body hydrated and will make your hangover WAY WAY WAY better.
Don’t be afraid to leave early
In true granny spirit don’t feel shit if you need to leave early. A couple of years ago I would’ve felt super guilty and like a crap friend for bailing but there is no shame when it comes to being the first one home. Just remember everyone is different, some people like staying out to 4am whilst others like to come home with their pizza and pop their bed socks on. And that is okay.
What are your tips for surviving a night out with the girls?
