Instagram is the platform of choice for many people and although the built-in editing options for Instagram have come a long way from just a small selection of filters sometimes it’s fun to have more options. There are so so so many awesome apps for editing photos in but here are 5 of my absolute must-haves.
VSCOcam
Wins hands down for aesthetics and if you’re ever after some photography inspiration check out the explore page. There is a range of different filters along with extra sets you can purchase as add ons each unique to the ones you’ll find in Instagram so it’s nice to have a little bit of a range. Each filter is adjustable (like on Insta) and you can also manually edit your photos. I generally prefer the filters available on VSCOcam and also use it for adjusting brightness/contrast.
Photoshop Express
A new discover that is AWESOME for just about everything. There are a few different looks you can do, my fave is ‘Spring’ which adds a soft glow to the photo, as well as loads of different options for manually adjusting the photos colours, brightness etc. The app also comes with red eye corrector, boarders and blemish corrector as well - so handy for those horrid 2am photos we all have on our phones that besties insist we post :P
Snapseed
This is probably my least favourite of the bunch as I don’t find it as user friendly as the others but it is really handy to have for it’s ‘Selective’ feature which allows you to select different parts of the photos and adjust brightness, colours and all that fun stuff. It’s the only feature I use this app for but you can also do the basic fine tuning, spot repair and crop but it’s worth having just for that selective feature!
Layout
Before Instagram created this app I hadn’t found an app that was easy to use for mirroring photos and creating collages as well but this one does it all. You can easy merge photos together and mirror them as well all pretty quickly. I like it’s easy to adjust the size in the frame and also the frame layout without having to start all over again.
Afterlight
An oldie but a goodie! Afterlight offers probably the most filters and is extremely user friendly. You can also do all the basics like brighten, adjust colours, crop resize but the cool feature for this one is the ability to edit in light leaks. It makes a photo look a little different. I used to use this all the time however now I am liking plain simple photos alot more.
What are your favourite photo editing apps for your Instagram photos?
