We feature alot of brands and products every week here on MTA… And although I like to keep things positive sometimes I also find it refreshing to chat about the products that just didn’t work out for me. Here are some from 2015 that I’ll be donating to friends and family. It’s not you it’s me kinda deal I think?
Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide
This was a release from late 2014 and I even reviewed it on the website (so embarrassing with my very badly ombre hair). There is no denying that this is a fantastic, light weight foundation that lasts well throughout the day. My problem lies with the horrible packaging that becomes messy thanks to the extra liquid-y foundation formulation. I just feel as though it would be better with a pump of some sort. I also find this foundation little temperamental with what you team it with. It doesn’t like anything that’s too silicone based underneath meaning it can be tricky to apply with your usual products. That problem I can live with as I’m spoilt for choice when it comes to primers however for the everyday gal it could be an issue.
Maxfactor Miracle Match Foundation
I really don’t mind this foundation formula at all. It’s light, glowy but still holds up well (see full review here).. In fact I really enjoy it however it’s the god awful smell I cannot stand. I actually can’t use this product because of the pungent smell!
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara
One of Benefit’s key launches from 2015 was the addition of a new mascara to the line up. Don’t get me wrong I love Benefit and I was estastic when I heard that they were bringing out another mascara because the Benefit They’re Real is one of my favourite mascaras of all time. I find this one flakes on me which is an issue that I haven’t ran into with any of the other Benefit mascaras… When it comes to higher end mascaras I expect perfection and this just wasn’t it for me.
Maybelline Color Molten Eyeshadow Duos
I’m a huge fan of Maybelline and particularly their eye product range however I found the colour selection a little off with these molten shadows. I felt that one of the two was gorgeous and then the second shade fell short or just wasn’t an ideal pairing for my taste. I’m sure there are some people who loved them but it just wasn’t a line that impressed me.
Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer
I have a real love hate relationship with this concealer because it’s actually one of my favourite concealers EVER but like the Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide it can be awful to layer… 80% of the time it doesn’t like my other base products and will separate wherever I apply it. If you have any tips for working with this particular concealer please help a girl out.
Physicians Formula Eyelash Extensions Mascara
Fibre mascaras and me don’t usually get along and this was just another duo that I couldn’t get to work for me. I have super sensitive eyes and no matter what I did this just fell into them making me want to claw my eyes out. I’m yet to find a fibre mascara I like.
Did you have any products that just didn’t work for you in 2015?
