LAURA MERCIER CANDLEGLOW SOFT LUMINOUS FOUNDATION REVIEW

The newest foundation to be added to the Laura Mercier line up is a luminous one designed to give the skin that lit from within glow. It promises a smooth complexion, natural luminosity and a formulation that will give the skin hydration. Here are my thoughts on the foundation.

Before this foundation even released onto Australian shores I had a bunch of you messaging me asking if I’d tried and that’s probably due to the fact you all know just how obsessed I am with Laura Mercier bases. I didn’t want to jump the gun and post this with just a week of wear because it IS expensive so instead I’ve been wearing this everyday for the past 2 months and I have to say I do love it. The packaging is luxe with the glass bottle and pump without being too chunky or heavy.

As stated earlier this is designed to give a candlelit glow to the skin, hydration, smoothness and natural luminosity with a sheer to medium coverage. There are 24 shades available in the range and it’s non-comedogenic, fragrance free and dermatologist tested.

The first thing I noticed when using this foundation is how light yet pigmented it is which is a pretty common characteristic when it comes to Laura Mercier bases. This formulation is dreamy and blends effortlessly into the skin using a flat top kabuki or a beauty blender for a super light finish. In this instance I’ve used a flat top kabuki and concentrated on the centre of my face. As you can see the finish is sheer but it just looks like skin and that is really different for me but I like it. It creates a smoothed almost blurred appearance to any imperfections so although sheer it takes away any starkness or harshness from blemishes or pigmentation. This foundation also doesn’t stick to dry patches, well it does, but NOTHING compared to anything else I’ve personally tried so that is a huge plus for me especially now it’s winter. I powdered slightly however nothing compared to what I’d usually do.

After 3.5 hour wear in a heated room this is what my skin looks like and generally I leave it like this because I think it’s the pretty side of look too oily. I’ve found that this is how the foundation will hold for about 5 hours before it starts progressively getting worse which you’ll see in the next photo. This is what I expected as my combination/oily skin doesn’t love a dewy foundation at the best of times.

So 7 hours later you can see it actually doesn’t look a whole lot worse (excuse the change in lightning) although I have lost some coverage around my nose, mouth and chin. As I was saying I find that the foundation holds that level of dewiness quite well throughout the day and I find if I powder around 2:30-3pm it lasts until after 7pm. Once it is this dewy it does transfer so carrying oil absorbing sheets or touching up throughout the day is a must.

The wear of the foundation is a super long-lasting one however I adore the finish, coverage and even the wear so it’s one I’d definitely recommend. Please keep in mind I have combination/oily skin so if you’re dry or normal this would be incredible on you and I can see it being a firm everyday favourite for lots of people. Well done Laura Mercier!

Oooh, this sounds promising! I’m still yet to try a LM foundation - I really need to get on the bandwagon! This one does look really great on your skin though. Always difficult finding a good dewy foundation for us oily gals!
