Full disclaimer – I’ve never worked in a big office or anywhere where I’ve had to have a semi-floral attire happening. Someone asked me how they could refresh their workwear clothing so I decided to write up some of my ideas…. Of course this is just my opinion and it won’t suit everyone’s workwear requirements but hopefully it does help some of you!
It’s the easiest way to feel like you have revamped your wardrobe especially if you have to wear a shirt! Most brands will do a white, black and then maybe some sort of printed version of your favourite cuts. I’m totally in love with star prints at the moment so this Violet Star Print Striped Blouse is so me! It’s simple but it adds a bit of fun to an otherwise fairly plain shirt.
Culottes are your best friends
Oh my god Sarah plz stop pushing culottes onto us. I’m not even sorry because they are the best thing ever! I know that traditional pants are easier and a no brainer but if you’re serious about changing things up and having some fun with your workwear research culottes! I’m obsessed with these Asos Knitted Culottes but they are just cotton if you need some more dressy versions Asos again have such a fab range (even some printed ones too!).
Have fun with lipstick colours
Maybe not appropriate for every single workplace however even a nude shades can make you feel alot different. I know it’s not a huge game changer but it’s all about that feeling. If I feel shit I wear a pretty lipstick and it lifts your face (well the right one will) so try it! I’m wearing Lady Danger from MAC.
Look for unique playful cuts
Again you do need to be careful if there is a workplace policy about low cut things and junk like that however with the whole deconstructed shirt trend that’s happening right now you can find some killer appropriate shirts! The one I’m wearing in the photos actually has buttons all the way down the back which I think is just so unique and different! Even if this didn’t have the star print it would be cool just with that detail. Have a peep at the photo online to see what I’m talking about.
