Most of you will know from social media that on Monday I turned the ripe old age of 21. It’s a milestone that has come and gone but made me do some serious reflecting. Although I don’t feel any different I have learnt a few things along the way…
1. Quality over quantity is best in almost every aspect of life
2. There is nothing more awkward than your high school years and everyone goes through it
3. Positivity takes less energy then negativity
4. Believe in yourself, what you’re doing and back yourself 100% otherwise no one else will
5. Never stop learning – no matter your age
6. If you’re unhappy with your life then only you can change that
7. But you can change someone else’s day just by being kind
8. The definition of success is different for everyone
9. Your Mum is your best friend whether you admit it or not
10. Be grateful always
11. Do only what you are ready for and what you feel comfortable with
12. Laughing at yourself rocks
13. Manners will get you far
14. Experiences make you grow even if they hurt you
15. Working hard will pay off in time
16. Money doesn’t buy happiness
17. Being healthy isn’t something people do to be trendy. It is so important to listen to your body and nourish it
18. Taking chances will stop you from having regrets later
19. Appreciate even the smallest of things in life because they make it even more beautiful
20. Listen to everyone and make sure you hear them
21. Getting older isn’t a negative, it’s just a new type of adventure
What are some of lessons you’ve learnt so far in life?

Yes for manners! So disappointing to see that so many people forget the basics:/

For sure! I love seeing really polite kids at work (that’s sad) but it’s so refreshing!
I love this!! #4 is probably the most important thing I’ve learned (and am still learning to actually put into action) to date.

Oh same! I feel like leaving university on my own accord really helped me learn that one… Such an empowering thing to do :)
I love this whole list! :) Definitely agree with #19

Thank you Nat! :) x
Forgot to wish you happy birthday for last week! Hope you had a lovely day! Some very good points made. I feel strongly for 6. and 14. It’s ok to be scared to jumping into the unknown, then experiencing it and realising it’s not for you and finding something else to work towards.
I’m giving a talk to Yr 10 students about my experiences in having a career change and keeping options open as you’ll never know where life will lead you!

Glad you agree :) xx
Great post, and congrats on turning the big 2-1! I recently wrote 26 things I learnt in 26 years. The best part of life is that you are always changing and evolving – the best thing you can do is enjoy the ride x :)

Thanks Kate! I’ll have to go over and check your post out now :D
Quite love this post! Both C and I have a lot of trouble thinking about looming 20’s but this post kind of made us comfortable with it. Which is good considering we actually feared it heaps beforehand! Love from Australia – http://kafkaatbrunch.blogspot.com.au/
No worries lovely! x
