Support can be pretty hard to come by in the blogging community. Of course we all should support each other and even if you don’t have a blog there are so many ways you can easily show your favourite blogger you love and appreciate their page!
Speaking from experience it can be mentally challenging working solo on a blog. You are photographer, writer, editor, designer, accountant, marketing AND communications manager just to name a few and these are all gigs that people study at university for years to become. It can be tough and just this week I ran into a photography issue I had (still don’t have) any idea how to fix. I tweeted about the issue and some of my blogging buds offered to help *you guys rock* which made me think - this community can be so catty and awful but also so freaking great as well!
COMMENT
Take the time to respond to comments on your page! I usually reply to all comments on Monday morning, or sooner if I have a spare moment, and even if it’s just a small ‘thank you’ - it makes a huge difference to how your community and you feel. Also taking the time to read and comment on other bloggers pages makes all the difference. You know how you feel when you get a nice comment? Pretty darn good right? Why not leave that on someone else’s page?! Never underestimate the power of your words because it can really make someone’s day.
SHARE
This one I definitely don’t do enough of (I’m trying to more) - share your favourite posts! Sheri does ‘10 Posts you should read‘, Helen does ‘10 Blogs Worth Reading‘ and similarly Taylor did a ‘Top 3: Beauty Bloggers‘. Not only does this sort of post give you something else to publish on your own page but it shares the love! It can be as simple as tweeting the link to an awesome post you just read. It’s super easy and a friendly way to say ‘hey you rock at what you’re doing!’. You never know the person may link you back or get in touch to collab or something cool like that.
CLICK & LINK
Clicking is something I know not everyone is going to be into but I always make sure if I see some sidebar advertisers that I check them out. I’ve found some of my favourite blogs and retailers through sidebar advertising! It’s just a little way you can support your favourite blogger. Another similar way is if you’re featuring, or just wearing something loads, that you bought off another blogger’s recommendation why not link back to their page? Or if you’ve used a photo of theirs let them know (like I have with the cover photo!). Make sure to share on social media @ tagging them too! I always look at any tags or if I see traffic from another blog coming in I make sure to hunt down the post I was mentioned in!
ASK
The amount of bloggers, and even just blog readers, who shy away from asking questions about a product or about blogging is crazy! I’ve tweeted some of the biggest bloggers out there a dumb question like ‘Have you changed the lens you’re using? Your photography is looking great!’ and guess what? They replied! It’s so easy to feel silly asking a simple question but bloggers love that you’ve taken the time. If they don’t reply straight away don’t be disheartened, gosh even follow up with a second tweet the next day asking if they’d seen it - chances are they were just busy or if they’re really popular missed the tweet altogether (not me lol).
What are your favourite ways to support fellow bloggers?
