LUXE VS LESS: HINT OF TINT LIP BALMS

luxe-vs-less-tinted-balms

All our dupe posts are some of our most popular posts on MTA so I wanted to create a series that will be done regularly instead of one-off posts. I’m all about giving you guys what you want to see (don’t forget about our awesome Request A Post where you can leave your suggestions) so here is our first dupe/compare a pair type post for y’all.

The high end offering is the Benefit Posie Balm which was released late last year. There are a number of different shades that correspond with Benefit’s cheek stains to make colour coordinating uber easy. They’re infused with mango butter and give a some poppy-pink tint to the lips that’s ever-so slightly buildable. The mango butter gives the products a gorgeous scent and really does moisturise the lips.

A newer release is from Maybelline and is the Baby Lips Candy Wow! in Peach Lollipop which is a range of four lip crayons that are all retractable. Unlike the Benefit offering these don’t have an overly sweet scent and are infused with vitamin E. I find the finish of these much more pigmented and glossy whereas the Benefit balms although glossy aren’t overly pigmented so you aren’t left with that ‘I just ate an icy pole’ look.

The verdict? Although the Benefit offering is much sweeter in scent and less glossy on the lips the price isn’t as appealing. Coming in at $26 in Australia I do think that is too much for what the product is therefore I say save your pennies and opt for the Maybelline offering. If you’re bothered by the super juicy finish like I was/am apply lightly and then blot down with either your finger or a tissue.

I never tend to buy high-end lip balms as I think they’re overpriced for such an essential makeup bag item! I’m yet to try any of these products, but the new Baby Lips offering sounds intriguing – I’ll have to check it out :) x

I usually tend to stick to Carmex but recently purchased a Nuxe balm – not really one for colours but nice to know there are such a variety available in all prices and types! :)

I haven’t tried either of these, but I am pretty much obsessed with the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments. I have a few shades and they are great for all seasons and occasions. Definitely a brand to give a try :)

I’ll have to give the Baby Lips Candy Wow a go. I actually use and love the Benetint Balm (I have it in several shades). I generally buy all my Benefit products from the US online store (which is cheaper than at Myers or DJs). They ship internationally and I split the postage costs with my sister.

I was eyeing up the Baby Lips during the recent priceline sale but haven’t heard much so I didn’t get them. I definitely wouldn’t pay that much for the Benefit Posie tint.
