TIPS FOR QUICK & EASY BACK TO UNIVERSITY/WORK MAKE UP

Now that the summer holidays are coming to a well and true close, for all the lucky ducks who had extra time off, it’s time to start getting back into routine and actually wearing make up. Whilst I was away on holiday I barely touched make up and it was THE BEST! I found it hard to adapt back into the routine of applying products to my face everyday. Here are some tips I found super helpful last week when getting back into routine.

  1. Less is more with your base
The last thing you’ll feel like is going from wearing nothing to wearing a full coverage, heavier foundation so opt for lighter alternatives. If you’re wanting something all over the skin a CC, BB or DD cream (you know one of those ones!) will do wonders and evening out your complexion without feeling heavy. I have loved the Maxfactor CC Cream for years because it has such a great colour range for fair peeps like me! Another option would be to only apply concealer to those pesky ‘problem areas’ and the Clarins Instant Concealer is fab for that. It will cover without looking cakey and it’s fairly moisturising so it doesn’t cling to dry areas. Be sure to set it without a light dust of powder though because it can’t move around if you don’t. Side note: does anyone know if Clarins make a foundation to match this? I LOVE it.

  1. Applying a brightening eyeliner does really make you look more awake
For years I was certain whoever came up with this time was CRAY but when guys it does work. Applying a flesh toned eyeliner to your water line makes your eyes look brighter giving the illusion you’re well rested and feeling fresh. It’s ace! The Simga Beauty Pencil is my favourite because it lasts so well throughout the day.

  1. Opt for blush instead of bronzer
Why? Because like the flesh-toned eyeliner it really does help give the illusion of being fresh and well rested. A light dusking will perk up the skin and when you look in the mirror at lunch time you won’t feel like you’re staring at a corpse. I don’t think you can go wrong with the Maxfactor Creme Puff Blushes because they’re easy to blend onto the skin when you’re half asleep!

  1. Brows will frame your face
If there is something I recommend doing is taking the time to groom your brows. It’s something everyone notices without realising they’re noticing it. For instance, Isaac always says my make up looks good when I’ve just combed through some brow gel, applied a light lipgloss and some concealer. It makes such a difference! When I’m wearing lighter make up the L’oreal Brow Plumper is my weapon of choice!

  1. Curl the lashes
Teamed with the brightening eyeliner it really opens up your eyes and makes you look so awake - even if you don’t apply mascara! The Shu Uemura Lash Curlers are fantastic for getting all of the lashes at once making it a quick and easy step!

I’ve been meaning to try using a brightening eyeliner for ages (I’m talking years!) but for some reason I’ve just never gotten around to it. I think I feel like I won’t be able to pull it off or it’ll look too obvious on my eyes or something.

  • Great post! I always ALWAYS take the time to do my brows. I really should scale things back to so I will definitely be using your tips. I also find that using a shimmery blush gives you a good blush/highlighter two in one.
