With Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend there can always be alot of pressure on people who are dating, long-time couples or even single peeps to do something on the romantic day. If you’re wanting to celebrate somehow without sending any extra, crazy amount of money these ideas could be for you.
A movie night under fairy lights
Sounds cliche but you can make this so cute and cozy. Add some fairy lights to your lounge room and pull out a mattress with loads of cushions and blankets. It just makes it a little bit special because you’ve gone to some extra effort. For food you could do all your favourite snacks or even order a pizza to be delivered - cheap and cheerful.
Cook each other a new recipe
OR you could even do a ‘mystery box challenge’ like they do on Masterchef where you could pull random ingredients from the fridge and cupboard then see what each other comes up with. You’ll be laughing all night…. Or maybe it’ll get super competitive.
Go for a hike and a picnic
It doesn’t have to be a crazy hike up a landmark or even for very far. Find a new track or path and pack a bag of snacks!
Visit a gallery
Do you know alot of galleries you can visit for FREE? I didn’t until recently so why not take advantage of that and plan a cute date checking out the latest exhibition.
Explore your local swimming spots
It’s still boiling hot here in Australia so you could Google swimming spots around you and then hit the road for a bit of a swim and relax. Pack a few drinks and a speaker to make an afternoon of it.
If you have a dog take it to a new dog park
Not all dates have to revolve around you. Take you pooch to a new spot to socialise… It’s always so cute to see them loving it!
Look for a view
It sounds weird but sometimes all you have to do is look up. Is there a lookout near by? A building you want to check out? Sometimes we pass by the obvious things without taking any notice. Now it’s time to notice… Then make a date out of it :P
What are you favourite dates to do around Valentine’s Day? Do you have anything planned this year?

That’s my fave year around honestly :P
Great ideas. I love ideas like these. They are much more meaningful than a store bought gift.
So true!
Love these simple ideas, a picnic with a nice view sounds like such a perfect but inexpensive date idea. I love going for walks at the beaches near my town, especially when it’s a bit colder out! It’s so empty and peaceful.

How perfect?!
It’s important to remember that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to have a really nice time with someone and I’m liking the idea of fairy light movie nights the most! xx
