The new kid on the block that everyone has been raving about for the past few years is texture sprays. No longer do you have to dry your hair out with a salt spray to achieve the messy and undone look – win!
Texture sprays are a hard product to describe because they’re really unlike anything else on the market. They offer a bit of hold, some volume, a bit of shine and a fair amount of grit to the hair. The Oribe Dry Texturising Spray was the one that really kicked off the trend. Everyone went absolutely bananas for the high end spray and I was skeptical. How can it be THAT good? Well it is. The thing that sets it apart from other texture sprays is that it’s a UV Protector, dry shampoo and the fab way it leaves your hair feeling weightless but also gives the hair so much body and volume. You’re able to manipulate your style but also brush out your locks like nothing ever happened. If you want even more volume you can blast your hair with a blowdryer after application and it amps the lift even more. It does retail for an eye watering $42 here in Australia but if you wanting something versatile it’s worth the price.
Now onto the more affordable option the Matrix Texture Builder Messy Finish Spray that retails for $19.95. Like the Oribe you spray this through dry hair and let it sit before ruffling it up for some serious volume. Undoubtedly it gives you some fab lift throughout your locks and it also offers some hold. It’s great for finishing messy buns or braids because it offers texture but also the hold element as well.
Although the Oribe is pricey I like that it’s versatile and you can use it in a few different ways. It allows you to style but also brush out so you don’t feel as though you need to wash your hair often. The Matrix is ace is you need hold throughout your style. If you’re new to texturising sprays I’d give the Matrix one a go and see how you like it. For me the Oribe is just that little bit more special and definitely worth the price tag.
