In the beauty world the cushion foundation trend is sticking around with most brands releasing their version of the nifty compact. Most promise a glow with a flawless finish but how do they measure up?
The one I’ve put to the test is the Shu Umemura blanc:chroma Brightening Cushion Foundation which is the brand’s first liquid-in-compact foundation. It promise high coverage whilst achieving beautiful radiance and I of course was into those claims. The thing to remember about cushion foundations is that it is just a new way to package a foundation and that it won’t be around forever… Remember the whipped foundation trend that had all the foundations in huge bulky jars? It will is a trend that will pass however I really like this particular packaging because you never dispense to much product thanks to the cushion that holds all the foundation.
Packaging aside and the formulation really is high coverage with the most beautiful glowy finish - it gives you a radiant glow! I prefer to apply it with a beauty blender because although it isn’t particularly thick in consistency I do like to sheer out the coverage for everyday. Depending on what beauty tool you choose to apply it with will depend on the level of coverage you end up with! It lasts well throughout the day considering I have combination skin however once you’re oily you can look a little too dewy so oily girls be armed with powder!
Overall although the packaging is just the latest trend I’m a huge a fan and I’ll happily use this up and repurchase. Always remember that even if a product is high coverage there will usually be a way that you can sheer it out in your application process. This foundation + beauty blender application = love for everyday wear.

Thanks for the honest review! I was on the verge of purchasing a cushion foundation but decided it wasn’t worth it. I would use my beauty blender instead of the given cushion anyways so it seemed pointless for me. Glad to know this shu umemura one has nice coverage!
