As some of you may know I recently returned from a trip away to Bali. Previous to going away it had been a hot minute since I went on a holiday so I found packing a little bit stressful to say the least. I’m the type of person who takes every possible option for a weekend away to the point where I got to a wedding with 3 different outfit options and approximately 19 different lip combinations – I’m bad. BUT while I was away I took note of what I actually used and wore so here is a little guide to packing your make up for a tropical holiday….
What I packed to go away:
Covergirl Stay Gorgeous Foundation (not pictured as I ran out over there) – review
Clarins Instant Concealer
Maxfactor Velvet Volume Eyelash Effect Mascara
Rimmel Kate Moss Palette
Dermalogica Hydra-Blur Primer
Benefit Posie Balm
Antipodes Translucent Powder (not pictured)
Benefit Gimme Brow
Shanghai Suzy Miss Tanielle
MAC Ruby Woo
Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Palette
Chi Chi It Girl Lipliner
Less really is more. I promise when you’re away in a tropical the last thing you want to do is slather on make up when you’re only going to sweat it off in an hour. Most days I wore absolutely nothing, some days I opted for just some concealer, powder, brows and mascara. There was only two nights I remember going to whole hog and applying some foundation and blush. Trust me you don’t need lip colours or eyeshadow unless you’re attending night time events while you’re over there! The items in italics are the things I actually used whilst away.
A list of things I suggest taking:
1x primer but only if you’re super oily and feel like you’ll need it. The Dermalogica one is ace!
1x matte foundation that can mix with your moisturiser OR just a concealer – you do not need both.
1x reliable mascara that won’t smudge
1x tinted lip balm
1x brow product of your choice
1x powder to set
1x multipurpose cheek palette
