3 QUICK TIPS FOR TRYING A METALLIC MIDI SKIRT

The metallic skirt trend has been one of those trends that’s been in the background for a little while now. I’ve eyed it off but historically haven’t gotten on with the midi pleated skirt until I spotted this one.

Choose your shade
The Tainted Love Silver Skirt is stunning and an in-between colour at that. I wouldn’t call it a silver because in most lights it catches as a bronzey shade. Either way I’m a huge fan of the shade a like that it’s subtle then most other options out there. If you’re a girl who loves colour ASOS do some amazing metallic blues and greens so choose your shade so it suits your existing wardrobe.

Knot it!
The length of a midi skirt doesn’t suit me amazingly (or I don’t think so anyhow) so I add some interest by knotting one of the side. Personally I just prefer the way it looks and find adds some interest to the eye therefore I don’t feel as self conscious. Another trick is the roll things up at the waist or tuck a t-shirt in – both change the shape dramatically and may just make you feel amazing in it.

Wearing it with things you feel super comfy in
When trying out something as different as a metallic skirt I think it’s important to not lose YOU in the styling. Sometimes it is tempting to style it up as you’ve seen on Instagram or on the website but make it your own! I always default to a knit when I’m unsure or something (and a hat!) so that’s exactly what I’ve gone for.

  • I’ve tried one on but unfortunately I found it un-flattering on me. Even with a top tucked in, it just accentuated my hips a bit too much & I didn’t feel good in it. It’s a shame because this is a trend I’m digging & would love to get on-board with.
