EVENT DRESSING WHEN YOU’RE NOT A GIRLY GIRL

One thing I’ve always struggled with is dressing for events. I LOVE dressing up and putting on a fancy outfit but sometimes I don’t feel like ME.

I spoke about it alot prior to the wedding and my fears about wearing a big white dress. It freaked me out – as does alot of formal occasions that come with dress codes. I love a dress now and don’t get me wrong I’m not claiming to be the edgiest gal ever. I know that I am most definitely not. BUT. Sometimes it is still scary to think up an outfit when I’m not feeling overly girly.

What do I now do?

Wear pants!

The discovery of wide leg pants really changed my wardrobe and the way I feel about getting all dolled up. For one these Bonnie Navy Stripe Pants are ridiculously comfy and lightweight so I can see myself wearing them even in summer with an off the shoulder top and two they make me feel like a bad ass bitch. They pull in my waist (usually is the smallest part of me, isn’t at the moment lol)  and skim over my tummy so they’re perfect for food baby situations. Of course I’ve gone totally formal with these sheer top however it would look equally cool with just a t-shirt or cami.

They create a way for us casual lovers to wear something more formal without losing that comfort or feeling like we are dressed completely different to our usual style. And I love it!

What I’m Wearing:  Bonnie Navy Stripe Pants (gifted, size 8) | Holly Blouse (size 8) | Camilla & Marc Pouch | Hoop Earrings (not current, similar linked) | Raen Sunglasses

Have you worn wide leg pants? What are your go-tos when dressing for events?

I’ve always shyed away from wide leg pants because I have this weird idea that my legs are wide enough. I should just bite the bullet and try them on!

I have a pair of white wide leg pants that I bought years ago, but I’ve struggled finding a top & shoes that could go with it so now they’re in a bag waiting to go to a charity shop. That being said I don’t think I can part with them because I really want to make them work for me + I adore the wide leg trend. I’ll have to dig them out & have another play around with them.
