Antipodes is one of those brands that has a really beautiful story behind it. New Zealander Elizabeth Barbalich, creator and director was really committed to not only making beautiful skincare products that were natural and certified organic but also educating people. The brand which started off with only seven products has now tripled and is now sold right around the world.
The first product I ever tried from Antipodes was the Jubilation Ultra Nourishing Hand & Body Cream and wow! It’s thick, blends easily into the skin and extremely rich so it gives your skin a real boost of hydration. As the name suggests it is a multi-use product but I prefer it is better suited as a thirst-quenching product for the body over an on-the-go hand cream. The cream itself is infused with oils such as avocado, kiwi seed and wild blackcurrant so it really will replenish your skin.
Another moisturising product I’m head over heels in love with is the Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream which is also infused with avocado oil. I have a cholerically dry under eye area that’s very sensitive. If I miss a day without applying eye cream I pay for it the next day when applying my make up. This is just the perfect balance of being extremely hydrating whilst still sinking in and being light in texture. If you have similar eyes to mine this is a must-try product. A moisturiser I wasn’t too fond of was the Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Dream. This is infused with Manuka Honey and Rosehip oil so before trying it I had a sneaking suspicion it may be too rich for my combination/oily skin. Perhaps in the winter when my skin is slightly more normal this will be a good one but if your combination/oily I’d steer clear from this one and try another moisturiser from the range it is a little bit ‘too much’ on the skin, especially under makeup. Instead of that day cream I use the Immortal SPF15 Natural Sun Protection Face & Body Moisturiser for everyday. I have spoken about loving this before so I won’t dwell on it but overall a great product. I tend to just use this as a moisturiser/SPF all-in-one product. This is my second tube and I love it!
Onto some treatments from the brand and the Aura Manuka Honey Mask is a fantastic one if you have breakouts but don’t want one of the traditional clay masks that are usually targeted towards your skin. This is cream consistency that you can leave on your skin for 15 minutes, or longer, and the antibacterial properties in the mask help clear the skin. I use this twice a week at the moment and it really is helping keep my skin in check without drying it out. The Apostle Skin-Brightening Serum is one I’m not sure I’ve noticed a difference in my skin whilst using. It’s very hydrating on the skin but I don’t think it’s done enough for me to recommend or repurchase.
Now prepare for some gushing because I’ve left my two absolute favourite products till last. The Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser is easily the best product from the line that I’ve tried. It’s a cleanser that when dispensed is a weird brown colour but once lathered it turns into a lather so don’t be put off. It smells amazing and removes impurities, excess make up and cleanses the skin without drying it out! It’s a must-try cleanser! The other product I’m thoroughly enjoying is the Worship Superfruit Antioxidant. This is designed to help keep the skin looking youthful and protect it from free radical damage. I can honestly say my skin feels and looks more smooth and radiant since using this. It absorbs easily, smells great an overall is a great little booster too add into your routine.
