L’oreal have been on fire with their latest releases and with winter well and truly here red lipsticks have moved heavily into our everyday rotation. Who doesn’t love a red lip right?! To celebrate the incredible ambassadors that L’oreal have they’ve released a collection of red lipsticks with the aim that everyone will be able to find a shade to suit. Here is a round up of the collection!

The idea of creating a collection of nude and red lipsticks is genius. Most of us spend months or years searching for that perfect nude or red that’ll suit us down to a tee. I’m not convinced within six lipsticks everyone will find ‘the one’ but it’s does give everyone a chance to test a selection of different hues within the same family. Upon opening each bullet I was convinced most of the colours were the same however once swatched each shade has a different hue to it.
Laetitia, Doutzen, Blake, Eva, Freida, JLo
Eva’s shade is more of a brick red with that retro feel and the most sheer formulation from the collection as well. We’ve then got Freida’s shade which I would call a vibrant pink red and a shade I didn’t expect to find in the collection! Both Blake and JLo’s colours are very similar in the bullet and on my lips however once swatched on the skin you can see that JLo’s shade is just that little bit darker. I would say Blake’s is comparable in colour to Mac’s Ruby Woo whereas JLo’s is more along the lines of Mac’s Lady Danger. The orange in collection inspired by Doutzen is an incredible orange shade with a sheerer formulation so it can be toned down easily or bullet up for something more intense. Laetitia’s shade is the deepest more vampy purple red which is easily my pick from the collection.
My only gripe with this collection is the point of the bullet is VERY pointy which made it a struggle (for me anyway) to get a crisp even application so I would definitely need to line my lips before applying. Generally I do that extra step when applying a bold colour anyway but I would say it’s a must for this collection especially if you have uneven texture around your lips like me.
This collection isn’t what I expected from the Pure Red line but I’m impressed. There is a variation of colours, some more sheer than others, but each very creamy and smooth to apply. I would recommend checking out the collection but it’s not one you NEED every shade from.
What do you think of this collection? Will you be picking up any shades?
