This is the type of post 12 months I wouldn’t’ve been able to write because my skincare was at a really low point after coming off the a contraceptive pill and it was a concern I’d never really had to deal with. Now I feel as though I have a good mix of products that really help me when it comes to breakouts or the odd pimple popping up and I had to share them with you!

You’ll notice all these products are treatment based and I’m a firm believer in keeping your routine fairly consistent and only switching around the odd product based on how you skin is looking and feeling. My skincare is fairly simple now and I think that contributes to the fact my skin is fairly manageable apart from the odd hormonal or stress related spots.

1. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+
I think everyone of every single skin type should own. I have used fully at least 4 tubes of this stuff and will continue to repurchase in the future because it’s just so bloody good at calming the area and helping breakouts clear up faster. I don’t use this all the time instead only using it when I can see or feel something arising then I use this in the morning over the problem area for about 7 days. A real staple for combating breakouts so do yourself a favour and go buy it!!

2. Dermalogica Special Clearing Booster
This is a product from the Dermalogica MediBac Clearing line which is directed at sensitive blemish prone skin so it’s not harsh at all. It contains 5% Benzoyl Peroxide, an active ingredient my skin responds very well too, as well as Zinc Sulfate, Tea Tree and Sage. These work together to control bacteria and really calm down the breakouts. I have tried alot of budget options when it comes to spot treatments and they always seem to burn the skin and irritate the area but this doesn’t. Applied after your serum and before a moisturiser at night it offers that treating factor without being harsh or drying.

3. John Plunkett Glyco Peel
When breaking out it’s important to still exfoliate the skin but you do have to be careful of manual exfoliators as they can cause a bigger problem so a chemical exfoliator is a great one to have on hand. This one from John Plunkett is a great effective, affordable option and it’s suitable for all skin types. I generally use this every second night applied all over the face and then topped with a moisturiser. The glycol acid really helps exfoliate, brighten and clear. This really helps keep the skin looking clear because it helps rid the skin of anything that’s dead and sitting on top of the skin…. Plus it lessens the time those pesky red/dark spots hang around which is a huge plus for me. It’s one of those products you’ll instantly see a difference with.

4. Borghese Fango Active Mud For Face & Body
You know those times where you’ve got a couple of spots and they just won’t come to a head? This stuff is amazing for drawing out all the oils and gunk! This mask is fairly intense so I would definitely patch test before using but my favourite way to use it is too apply all over the centre T-Zone area and follow it up with a really hydrating mask. It’s really great at drawing out blackheads as well, one of my most-hated things about my skin, and I can honestly say it has helped lessen the problem by using once a week!

Origins Spot Remover us a must have for getting rid of spots. I’ve heard great things about Effaclar Duo but have never tried it myself. I love that Borghese & have it on standby for when I feel a spot brewing! xx

That is a pretty awesome bunch of products, I really want to try the La Roche-Posay product as it has been on my list for some time but now I want all of them!

I usually stick to a routine filled with Origins bits and that seems to work very well for my skin – but then everyone is different! :)

Do you have any must-haves from Origins?! I’m dying to try more of the brand but I never know what to try… It’s a very overwhelming brand :)

I guess it depends on your skin type and if you go to the counters the guys that work there are great with getting you a tailored selection according to your skin!

My must haves are Modern Friction, Checks & Balances (Frothy Face Wash) and Out of Trouble 10 minute mask. A new one that I have been using lately though is the GinZing scrub cleanser and moisturizer. I am currently on my second tube and want to finish that before I go back to Checks & Balances.

Let me know if you get any as I would love to hear how you get on :)

Forgot to say they have an offer on their website that if you order over £30 you get three deluxe (?!) samples and a wash bag. I think if you go to the counters though they are far better with giving samples :)

I don’t find it burns but my skin is fairly hardy…. At least you’ve found a way to make it work for you :)

I’ve been using the LRP Effaclar Duo Plus for the past 2 weeks as my skin was flaring up and it has helped calm my skin so much and I am back to normal now with no breakouts! I am seriously in love with this stuff, I had it for ages but I wasn’t really using it consistently when I had breakouts. I’m definitely trying out that Dermalogica Special Clearing Booster as well. Their Clear Start Breakout Clearing Overnight Treatment also works super well for me.

I haven’t tried that one yet but it’s on the list for after I finish the Special Clearing Booster! I’ve heard so much about it
