LUXE VS LESS: CHEMICAL EXFOLIATORS

luxe-vs-less-chemical-exfoliators

When it comes to exfoliating it can be tough to find a product that suits your skin down to a tee. Chemical exfoliating is a newer concept that promises soothing, softening and ensuring the skin is deeply cleansed whilst still being super gentle. Sounds amazing right? The next question is: is it worth on a chemical exfoliant?

Go-To Skincare Exfoliating Swipeysfull review
The Go-To Skincare offering is designed to be swiped over the skin as these are little pads soaked in solution. The means they’re pretty darn fuss free and user friendly – you simple swipe all over the face, wait, then rinse (I don’t rinse and have no problem but always follow the instructions peeps). Lactic Acid being the active ingredient these are a super simple formulation meaning they are super gentle on the skin so perfect for anyone with sensitive skin. I find after about 2 weeks after using these I notice a considerable difference in my skins congestion being reduced and a smoother more radiant complexion. These retail for $46 and you get 50 wipes in each container.

John Plunkett’s Glyco Peel
This bad boy sounds super scary but it really isn’t I promise! In terms of active ingredients it uses glycolic acid and is more of a serum product. Depending on your skin type, there is a guide on the bottle, you apply every night/every second night, twice a week or use as a rinse off treatment. This does have a very strong smell and if you have any open zits it does sting to apply so it’s not the most pleasant of products to use. The consistency is also fairly runny and although the product is in a user friendly tube I’ve found every bottle I’ve ever used has leaked (I’ve been through 3 so far). Again these factors do make the product a little less than desirable however it is fantastic in terms of results. Within two uses this really changes the skins appearance and texture plus it helps reduce pigmented from old spots fairly quickly. It retails for $30 for 15ml which I generally find lasts about 5-6 months.

Although I do love the John Plunkett’s and I’ve used numerous bottles I still prefer the Go-To Skincare Exfoliating Swipeys. They’re less intense, more user-friendly and I prefer the experience of using them. If you’re a first timer when it comes to chemical exfoliation they are definitely the way to go! If you’re after super instant results and have resilient skin the John Plunkett is a fantastic, effective product.

Have you tried either of these? What were your thoughts?
