THE WEEKLY NOTES #19 christmas shopping experiences, exciting news & content chatter

I know it’s been a while but since I’m currently working 7 days a week I’m finding it hard to sit down and natter on each week… Hence why this is uploaded on Monday :P

Regardless how is all your Christmas shopping going? Are you almost done? I’ve preordered something and I have my fingers crossed that it’ll make it here in time for Christmas. That’s got me a little panicked but apart from that I’m finished. I’m trying to resist that Christmas craze shop that I ALWAYS do even though I know the gifts I already have are more than enough. Last week I managed to get down to Melbourne for the day to do some shopping in the city and boy it was cray cray! I did manage to grab everything I needed and stopped at two counters both with very different experiences. The first was MAC. I knew what I wanted and the girl was uber helpful, cheerful and helped me choose the colour spending time with me even though I wasn’t going to spend loads of money. Honestly it’s the best experience I’ve had at a MAC counter as usually I feel pretty intimidated or overwhelmed. The next counter I’m going to name because I adore the brand and it’s not the brands fault that the employee treated us this way. Again I knew what I wanted and asked her to grab the item, I spent a fair bit of money at this counter, and she didn’t give me ANYTHING. She barely said anything (I don’t actually remember her saying anything), never made eye contact even when she served me to check out. I felt really angry because I did have questions however didn’t feel like I could ask her because she was obviously in such a bad mood. It just goes to show that your customer service is your brand and the right employees do matter.

Anyway enough about that rant! The other thing that happened last weekend was some of our good friends got engaged!!!!! It’s the first couple out of our friends that have got engaged so we’re very excited. We actually crashed the proposal plan accidentally but it all worked out and meant we got to have drinks and meal with them. It is literally the best thing ever and I said to Isaac the next day that I felt like I got engaged by how happy I was.

This month, despite how crazy it’s been, I’ve felt really happy with my content and how things are going. I got to work with Brauer Natural Medicine, a brand I love, on this post and I absolutely love how it turned out. I was so happy when they got in touch! But overall I’m happy with the content I’m releasing. I think as a creative you go through periods where you hate everything or love everything. Oh another favourite post is my Instagram VS Reality that was also posted this week.

I also wanted to mention what’s on for the rest of the month here on the website too. I’m always going to be on social media because I can’t not be on social media but probably just a little quieter over Christmas obviously. There will be content up until the 23rd and then nothing until the 28th. I thought about uploading everyday however I really wanted to have a quiet period where I’m not concerned about posts going up. I’ll then start back up on the 28th with my top discoveries of hair/skin/body etc for that week then back to normal in January. I’m toying with the idea of cutting down to 4 posts per week next year because I want to get my other project really rolling however I’ll keep you posted. Nothing will be decided until after I have a good break away from the computer :)

Phew. That was chatty! Kudos if you made it this far.

What’s been happening with you? Anything exciting? Ready for Christmas?

    • Haha! I hope you got some ace goodies xxx

  • I had a similar customer service experience but it was at a restaurant where the hostess said “how many” when we were waiting for a table and thats literally all she said. She tried to sit us onto a DIRTY table to start, then I couldn’t fit my pram in the space and she just stood there pointing at the table. I said, Im sorry I can’t fit through there and she just stared at me! An old lady got up and moved her walking frame so we could get through then when we went to sit at the dirty table thinking she must be going to clean it and get us some clean cutlery she said nothing and started cleaning the table next to us. Safe to say we left and went somewhere else. I get that people have bad days but you really should never take it out on customers!

    • Oh that’s awful! I’m glad you left… Especially at restaurants it can be so hard to get up and leave

Good to catch up with you through this nice chatty post.
I have favourite SAs who have definitely meant I was loyal to a brand and spent money maybe not every visit. However, across time it added up. I had one lovely lady like this at Chanel which meant most of my splurge purchases were Chanel. Probably why I still don’t own any Dior.
Great job at MTA this year.
    Enjoy Christmas and your break.

    • Thanks lovely! It makes a difference doesn’t it?

  • It’s funny how much the salesperson can really impact on your experience of shopping with a certain brand. I guess everyone has bad days but it’s a shame when it made you feel uncomfortable about asking the questions that you had. I had a really nice experience earlier this week because I bought a Tom Ford cologne for my boyfriend for his birthday and even though I already knew what I wanted the salesgirl (who I think was actually a Tom Ford rep and not a David Jones employee) still wanted to talk me through the line and was happy to help me find which scents I liked for myself and she gift wrapped the present and made me some samples of the ones that I liked so I could try them at home on my skin and it made the whole experience so nice, especially compared to some brands where you feel too uncomfortable to even browse their line because of the sales reps.

    • There are some counters I don’t even bother going near because of them.. Such a shame!
