CLARINS DAY & NIGHT AUTUMN COLLECTION REVIEW

For Autumn this year Clarins has released the ‘Day & Night’ collection which boasts hues suited for Day and then Night making it easy to pair the bits together. I was sent over some bits and here is what I thought.

Most of these items are from the Night part of the collection and the showstoppers are the eye products. The Ombre Matte in Heather is this gorgeous taupe that has a cream to powder formulation. I’m a huge fan of these after trying the Spring collection – the formula is just so unique! I did find this one a little hard to blend when you apply a good whack at once so I recommend slowly building it up for easier application. The The 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette in 02 Pretty Night is an interesting palette because they’re all such deep rich shades. I wouldn’t say this palette has the best pigmentation but I do really love the colour combination and it’s a fairly unique edition to my collection. If you’re a fan of smokey or just deeper neutrals this is a fab palette however do be aware the darkest shades do take some building up.

I’m not going to talk about Clarins Crayon Kohl in 10 True Violet because it’s a purple eyeliner that is gorgeous to work with. It’s a great long-lasting formulation but I do think you can find cheaper alternatives that do the same job. The same goes for the Rouge Eclat in 22 Red Paprika – it’s the first Clarins lip product that I haven’t enjoyed. For brighter shades I prefer something punchy, pigmented and long-lasting that is not what you get from this line. They’re all very sheer, creamy and shiny in finish which I personally prefer for more nude shades.

Overall I love the concept of this collection however I do feel that some of the products fell short for me which is a first from Clarins. No hard feelings – it is one of my favourite brands after all! If you were to pick up a product from the above I’d recommend the Ombre Matte in Heather because it really is a unique colour and the formulation makes it even better.
